Berquist and Washington didn't take a snap last year, but the Griz are doing OK this year.

As long as the next cat QB is part of "the system" they should continue with an effective passing game. Hell, if they can get a QB who can constantly throw 200+ a game and pair that with this Groves kid running 80 - 120 a game, the cats might be a better team, due to a more balanced and team based attack, who knows...

The Ryan Johnson comment may have been true. We never did replace him!
True, Gtapp, but we found other players to step up and continue the winning. Next year we will find other players to step and do the same. Who knows maybe the next Ryan Johnson is here. Maybe the next Lulay is sitting on the bench waiting their turn to prove what they can do.
IMO the key to developing success for the cats is BALANCE! When you had Ryan Johnson it seemed that for the most part the cats abandoned the passing game for a diet of running cause you had a very good runner. When he left you abandoned the running game because you had a very good QB in Lulay. Either way you look at it you were/are basically one dimensional.

Balance should be and is the responsibility of the coaching staff. Look at the Griz for example. We had a very good back (Lex) and new receivers and QB's. Did we abandon the passing game because it's not working as well as we had hoped or wanted? NO, the Griz stuck with it and will continue to stick with it because that's the ONLY way it will ever get better!

It's hard enough to get into the playoffs and even harder to make any noise when you're a one dimensional team. That's my opinion anyway.
