1. Place more importance on success in the non-conference schedule. Kramer has basically said that his foucs is on winning conference games, and has yet to win more than two non-conference games in a season. A good non-conference record explains how teams which are 5-2 in conference get into the playoffs.
2. Forget the Cali-kids. While there are a million kids playing football in California, there are also a million colleges trying to recruit them. I'm not saying that the Bobcats shouldn't recruit in Cali, just that more of an emphasis on recruits from other places should be made.
3. Fixation with Grizzlies.
As far as the stadium upgrades, who is going to pay for large upgrades?
A series of small upgrades with definite revenue timetables might be the way to go. For example, the Griz has two straight years of upgrades in 2001 and 2002 (Sprintturf and Jumbotron) before the NEZ expansion. Even the bleacher seating brought in for 'Cat / Griz and left for the playoffs looked like an upgrade to Wash. Griz and enabled the Griz to set two attendance records. This year, Wash. Griz got collapsable goalposts.
Stadium ads might be a good start. They are cheap to install, and would give everyone something to complain about.
