Garrett Marino dismissed from Bobcat football team (FREE)

This is a surprise. Granted we all knew he was a firecracker and had some issues (suspended and injury) but to go from practicing one day to 100% off the team including lose of scholarship money that is huge.

Someone mentioned the team first mentality that this team seems to have and I agree Marino had a perception of being me first. Never met the kid just perception from others talking on here. But if a guy with starting potential is kicked off the team the rest of the team better take note. IF you are not buying in your gone. I wonder if this gives the other starters a heads up that no one is non replaceable and curious if this goes into on field performance or just personalities.

My son will be a little sad to hear this, as will other youngsters from what I've gathered on here. But, it will present the opportunity to share with them that attitude, team, selflessness, they are important. MSU does hold to a higher standard and I'm proud to see it in action.

Agreed. That's where I held out my hope that he was going to make it. He treated my kids very well. It was a positive trait that I hoped would prevail over some of the negatives stories going around.

Yes, I'm in that group with you, but like you said it's a great lesson. My girls are bummed about this news. He was their favorite player and my oldest daughter even told him that on Family Day. We wish him well in whatever he decides to do.

Yes, how dare Bobcat fans be excited about a 4* recruit who was getting glowing on-field reports in fall camp. That's why I never cheer for anything until after it's already happened. That way, I'm never wrong.

My favorite NFL team is Seattle, my favorite NBA team is San Antonio, my favorite FBS team is Florida State, my favorite NCAA hoop team is UConn, and my favorite baseball team, for the next few weeks, are the Red Sox. I'm the happiest fan alive, because I never get excited about a team until after it's over!

OK, but you need to realize not too many people are worried about the repercussions of going bonkers about a player. Most people factor that in while going bonkers and say to themselves, "oh well I only get a chance to do this once in a while."

I don't mean this in a bad way, but hopefully this is that something that actually helps the defense. I hope they can use this as a rally point for the remainder of the season.

That said, I'm sorry it didn't work out for either MSU or for Marino. Best of luck to him in his future.
