Very, very hard fought game. Good thing some of the posters on this board on not strapping it on.

I'm not going to make a prediction because I decided to not do any Cat game predictions this year. However, for all the fans talking about how we're going to get beat, don't stand a chance against the mighty Bison, etc..... I think a lot of that is recency bias, based on ONE bad game. In other words, if the Cats would have won in Missoula, would ANY Cat fans still be predicting a loss at home to the Bison? I think not. Anyway, I don't think we're going to see that Cat team that showed up in Missoula... again this season. We know damn well this Cat team has been almost unstoppable at times this season. I have a feeling the Cats are going to show up tomorrow, in a big way. If the Cats just play as good as they did in most games this season, SDSU for example (And that was not even close to playing a perfect game), they will beat NDSU. I'll be there yelling my *** off. GO CATS!!!

FCS 2023 2ND ROUND

Here are the matchups tomorrow, as seen by the Massey computer. There are a few interesting items in the data.

• The top four teams have not changed for several weeks, except UM and MSU flipped places. They are South Dakota St, Montana, North Dakota St, Montana St.
• All teams rated worse than 26th nationally have been eliminated. Drake was 102. Mercer at 26 is the lowest rated team remaining.
• There is a lot of disparity in the strength of the matchups.
  • 1 SDSU plays 26 Mercer (27 total rating)
  • 2 Montana plays 18 Delaware (20 total rating)
  • 3 NDSU plays 4 Montana St. (7 total rating)
  • 4 Montana St. plays 3 NDSU
  • 16 Furman plays 22 Chattanooga (38 total rating)
• South Dakota St is a prohibitive favorite (55.4%) to win the national championship.
• MVFC has 5 teams, Big Sky and CAA have 4 each. How does that change tomorrow?

I guess it can be blamed on regionalization. Sort of, as they did find a reasonable (but not the second easiest) matchup for Montana. Am I the only one that thinks the NDSU @ MSU matchup is wasted as a second round matchup? I think the committee is under a lot of pressure to avoid a Big Sky / MVFC final four.

I see the semi-final teams as SDSU, UM, NDSU/MSU, and somebody else. Who will that be? SDSU defeats UM, NDSU/MSU defeats somebody else, and the Jackrabbits take down the Bobcats or the Bison for the title.

The computer gives the Bison a 52% chance of winning over the ‘Cats, 31-30. I’ll reverse that!

Agree. Offense plays good ....but not great. Defensive problems / tendencies do not get fixed and the D gets gashed. Good news is I am almost always wrong!

We haven't done well against mobile quarterbacks when they have a good passing attack and at least a decent ground game. I the Cats show up we should be alright but this one could go either way.
