It looks like a giant pool that's covered up...so no, it's not inflated. There's something on top of the field, but I couldn't tell if it was some sort of tarp or the actual bubble material that they haven't started blowing into yet. Has to be driving them crazy!

Will be done after the bubble covers it all.

Somebody on Reddit said they saw a big tent go up by campus and asked if the circus was in town

Wow! I am actually shocked at how bad this looks. Im sure the feasibility is just fine and will serve their teams wells. But wow! It looks like a happy meal toy, just junk.

It is bad and they are pretty radio silent on efizz, they are definitely not bragging up this abomination. They thought they were getting Nikes but got Snikes instead or maybe their mindset is more like "it'll do...not the best, but it'll still make a turd".

Re: Indoor facility
I agree it looks like a giant pile of turds.
But… their plan is to eventually build an actual building, right? I thought that’s what I had heard I initially. This was a way to basically fast track it to get a functional space as quickly as possible, and then a few years down the road they’d raise the funds to put an actual metal structure over it.
I enjoy sh*tting on the griz as much as anyone, but if they’re going to build something more permanent down the road, then it’ll still turn into being a really nice facility at some point. If that’s not the plan anymore and this is a final version …...well, then…. Woof.

Re: Indoor facility
I saw a couple comments on X where fans were saying "this is good for now but we've gotta get a real building built". I'm sure if MSU wasn't building a real facility they'd be overjoyed with this, but we really rained on their parade with the permanent facility. I haven't heard anybody come out and admit that MSU's is going to be way better, but you know they're thinking it.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 8:24 amI agree it looks like a giant pile of turds.

Would love to see a side by side of MSU bubble and this and interior picture of each. Griz one is bigger but I bet not by much.

Re: Indoor facility
All these bubbles are utilitarian and not supposed to be permanent structures, although they can last for a long time if properly maintained. I'm not sure I've seen a real pretty bubble, but at $10 million (I know, includes the hard structure, field, etc.), I'm guessing the structure will be around for a 5-10 years, at least. If um just spent all that money hoping to come back within a couple of years to build a complete building, then that wasn't very smart. um has real economic issues right now. Unlike MSU, I'm not even sure ums football training facility is even paid off yet. Unless Denny wants to put his name on something else at um, they are a few years out from being able to afford something better than a bubble.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 8:24 amI agree it looks like a giant pile of turds.

Re: Indoor facility
All joking aside, what they have is still a better practice facility than the 95% of other FCS programs that have no IPF at all. Compared to what their direct rivals (MSU, NDSU, SDSU) have or will have soon it obviously isn't as good, but in terms of recruiting I guess they can always point to having the best stadium itself of those four schools.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 8:24 amI agree it looks like a giant pile of turds.

Re: Indoor facility
Longer, maybe, but not wider. MSU's indoor has a 300 meter track surrounding the field and ums does not.

Re: Indoor facility
According to media stories I found MSU's building is slightly larger with 120,000 square feet of space compared to 111,000 for the UM building. I'm guessing a lot of that comes from MSU putting a full track around the football field that UM's facility doesn't have. UM does have more football-specific practice space as they have a full length field whereas MSU's will be 80 yards.

Re: Indoor facility
It seems like the primary advantage of having a 100 yard field instead of 80 yards is just so Bergen can practice kickoff/punt returns. Otherwise you can do everything in 80 yards, even dual reps.MSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 9:08 amAccording to media stories I found MSU's building is slightly larger with 120,000 square feet of space compared to 111,000 for the UM building. Re: Indoor facility
Practicing kickoffs on an 80-yard field seems pretty easy, you'd just have your kickoff team line up at their own 15 instead of their own 35. I agree that it probably isn't a material advantage to have those extra 20 yards, and MSU has a very convenient 100-yard field right next door they can use if they really need it.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 9:17 amIt seems like the primary advantage of having a 100 yard field instead of 80 yards is just so Bergen can practice kickoff/punt returns. Re: Indoor facility
Why exclude the endzones on a practice field? It's 100 vs 120 of usable turf and the bubble boys and girls still have to bus during the winter for indoor track meets.

Re: Indoor facility
I think he's talking about the temporary bubble at MSU, saying our current facility isn't much worse than their new one.
