I said 34-31 on the Lobos fan board and I think I'll stick with it. It's a road game against an FBS team who we don't have any film on. But they have a new coach and a ton of transfers on both sides of the line and their skill position players were all on the teams that got the last coach fired. The Bobcats won't be intimidated and will want to prove themselves. We have more experience and stability and likely more talent.

I only said 34 because I thought we'd either kick a couple FGs or miss an XP. Can't believe I almost got it exactly right.

They have a pretty good track record against FCS teams. Going back to 2003 they’ve only lost three times. Once was UTSA in 2013 and I’m not sure if they were still FCS then.

MSU, on the other hand, seems to find a way to lose when it plays FBS opponents. I’m not sure MSU has had this good of team when it’s played FBS teams the past 20 years and I don’t think they’ve played a FBS team this traditionally weak.

MSU 31, UNM 30

That’s the closest I’ve ever been.

But MSU really outplayed UNM. It was 35-14 after being down 17-0 and 7 of their 14 were off a fumble return. So 35-7 just counting offensive production. Yardage discrepancy was huge in that stretch, too. MSU 477, UNM 184. UNM just 1 for 8 on third downs.

MSU definitely has stuff to work on but depending on how you look at it they had some good takeaways, too. Statistically at least.

I just can't see how the Cats beat UNM by 14. They are too much of a mystery with 60 new players and a new coaching staff. Bronco is too good of a coach to let that happen IMHO. I think the game is going to be close and probably uncomfortably close. Cats still win 35 - 31.

Guess I should have bought a lottery ticket as well. I put money down on the game and won there as well.
