The whole Entz thing surprised me. Why the hurry to announce that position?

It surprised everyone, including some coaches that Entz looked into their eyes and lied to.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, you also have no way to prove it.

True but I don't need to

You will see on Thursday, there was never any doubt who it would be, from the top down

Again, him not getting the job on Thursday doesn’t show anybody there wasn’t interest.

I can PROVE IT. NDSU wasn't taking VIGEN.

Nobody's arguing that. We're kind of challenging the fact that nobody in any position of influence had even the slightest interest in Vigen. Didn't put him on a short list or even a long list. That's what zero means, and that's tough to prove.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

USC/ENTZ all knew last friday , Entz told a couple players/coaches, then 1 of them leaked to reporter.

Well if lakesbison is correct and I have no reason to doubt him, then the following is a bit off but actually makes for horrible optics for Entz IMO.

I would imagine that USC announcing was how it came out. Even if USC and Entz had agreed to keep it secret for some time they would've run a very real risk of rumors getting out that Entz had been hired which would've been a worse distraction for NDSU and worse optics for Entz than it already is. NDSU has a history of promoting someone from within their staff to be the next HC and announcing that very quickly. Those kinds of moves can help to tamp down distraction and worry within the locker room while they are still in the hunt for the championship.

My Bison friends have no real solid info on who their next HC will be, only speculation mixed with expectation.

I think Tyler Roehl would be announced ASAP if he was 45 years old . He's 37 and quite frankly there has been disdain for his play calling, but NDSU is producing on offense.

Wyoming OC Tim Polasek was at NDSU and is really good friends with Tyler Roehl and some think HE should be the NDSU HC and Tyler should be happy for his buddy and wait his turn... HOWEVER Tyler has job offers available to him so does that piss him off and he leaves AND the PLAYERS want Roehl as HC per tweets...... its a weird situation.

on top of that Denver DL Coach Jamar Cain "former ndsu coach and Okla/LSU coach" says he'd be interested ...

on top of ALL of that. Colts DC Gus Bradley NDSU legend (in the NFL for years and was a NFL head coach) has about 3 weeks left until he is fired and his son is a freshman on the NDSU basketball team.... Do you call him up and say "Hey Gus, quit the rat race in NFL, you've made millions, Here's a lifetime contract at NDSU"

I personally talked to Mankato State HC Todd Hofner at NDSU game last week & said what you doing here" he said "watching NDSU, I've always respected their program" WAS HE THERE BECAUSE HE KNEW SOMETHING WAS UP???

there you go... that's all the rumors.. and on top of it Chris Kliemans staff is poaching NDSU commits, argh!!

Yeah no one here cares much about Entz and the thread should actually be down in the college athletics.
As far as why it is attracting posts: 1. It serves as a nice distraction from the fact that the Bobcats are not playing now :hot: and 2. distraction from the portal action that is shredding the continuity of the great roster we had just weeks ago. :hot: 3. Our program could easily be experiencing losing our HC if some other school ends up needing a new HC so it's interesting to see and discuss how that plays out at a comparable school.

That might be a bit extreme. Given what we return on the OL, I think we'll have a better OL in 24 than what we had in 23 but maybe not quite as deep. No concerns there. Losing Seabass is the one that hurts the most, but fortunately we'll be very deep on the DL once again in 2024. I doubt we find one player in the portal that we can land that will replace Seabass but you never know. Long story short, OL will be as good or better and I think the DL will be as good... and if we take a step back there due to losing Seabass, it will only be a minor step back due to the talented depth along the DL. As for the coaching concerns, 100% agree with you there.

If Roehl is not announced as HC on Thursday, he is going to take the Northwestern job.

I lean towards him getting the job since only 2 names were being considered at this time.

I don't think it's extreme to say that the continuity of our roster is being shred. What I'm saying is that the portal losses are unsettling to the team and are losses of leadership, athleticism, and throws the idea of closeknit brotherhood into question. In general it can put the whole team on edge wondering what might happen next... None of that is positive toward continuing to build a team, though I trust they will work through it. With good depth it doesn't have to mean that the quality of the roster is being shred, but it surely isn't helping the quality.
