Edwards to MSU
A little birdie told me that Jeff Edwards (6-10 out of Butte High) just commited to play hoops for MSU. All State as junior, HM All state as soph. played against Bobby Howard in last year's AA championship game.
I will be anxiously awaiting an official announcement along with everyone else.

Wow, that would be a big, and unexpected get for Coach Huse. I had assumed that UM had the upper hand on him. If true, we're glad to have you join the Bobcat family, Jeff.
On a side note, what is this world coming to when a Butte kid signs a D-I letter of intent to play basketball instead of football?!?!

I like the sound of that.
I've seen Edwards play (he was big in seventh and eighth grade) and I know it's just speculation, but it's about time the Bobcats picked up a Butte guy again.
Plus the Cardinals are going to the World Series!

This wouldn't surprise me if Edwards di dcimmit to MSU. A friend that I ussually stop and see has introduced me to him several times at the football games the last couple of years. I think it is his uncle that is a big booster, but for sure a family member. Anyway I got the feeling that it was always MSU or out of state.

Yep. Butte High lost early (the game where their real good forward - can't remember his name right now - got flipped and landed on his head). Should be a real power this year, though. If the Edwards signing ends up happening, it will be a great pickup for Coach Huse. I'm really liking the direction he's taking the program so far.whitetrashgriz wrote:bozeman was in the state aa championship game.Bay Area Cat wrote:A little birdie told me that Jeff Edwards (6-10 out of Butte High) just commited to play hoops for MSU. From today's Montana Standard in Butte:
Edwards commits to ’Cats
By Bill Foley of The Montana Standard - 10/20/2006
Jeff Edwards will have one less thing on his mind this coming basketball season when he looks to guide Butte High to the state title.
Winning games for the Bulldogs will be all that matters.
Wednesday the 6-foot-10, 225-pound Edwards announced his decision to commit to playing hoops at Montana State University for coach Brad Huse.
The Butte High senior will sign on the dotted line Nov. 8, the first day he’s allowed.
Since he became a starter for the Bulldogs as a sophomore, Edwards has had college coaches and scouts at nearly every game.
“I don’t have to worry about who’s there, or how many points I got to score,” Edwards said. “I know where I’ve got to go and the pressure is off.” Edwards averaged 11.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per game for the Bulldogs as a junior. His 88 regular-season blocks were more than double the No. 2 blocker in the state — Missoula Sentinel All-Stater Andy Garland, who blocked 41.
Counting the state tournament, Edwards ended the season with 99 blocks. He’s racked up 204 swats in two seasons as a starter.
Edwards said coach Huse, who recruited the Butte post since he was a freshman and Huse was an assistant coach at the University of Montana, made it clear that Edwards must work to improve on offense.

This just made my day.
Who was the last in-state true post player we signed? Big John?
I don't consider Duffy or Owsley a Post...

How in the hell would you consider Lazosky a post player? All he ever did was shoot 3's and watch people rebound.grizzh8r wrote:This just made my day.![]()

Yea but Butte has a few rather nice looking prospects in the pipeline, so lets hope Huse can work his close friendship with Butte coach John Thatcher.083190 wrote:That is quite a while ago.
