Also the quick (almost lateral pass to a wide receiver) allowed Rolo to fake the quick pass and hit Jefferson for the 70 yard TD. We've done the RB throw twice now. The one in ISU was a sure TD if Mason wouldn't have overthrown. Now the next step in this trick play is to set it up the same way but have Rolovich roll out and Mason throw it to him. He should be wide open.

I thought the play calling was very good. I was concerned that the Cats couldn't put a long drive together though. There were several three and outs. The big play certianly was the savior this weekend. That was sure a fun game to watch from the stands. Bobcat and Bengal fans are a lot alike. Very respectful fans!
Yep, I love what Bailey has been doing the last 2-3 games. End Arounds/Off Tackle/Delay action draws/half back option passes/TE flare outs. The common factor in the diversity of these calls is that it makes their defense GUARD the whole 30 yard field from sideline to sideline. If a LB or Safety is cheating up and they go for the wrong play and get out of place we have ourselves a TD :). Make that D guard every inch of that 30 yard box (and in Jefferson's case .. 50 yard box :) ) and it will open up the runs/time for Rolo to pass/gaps down field/TE's squirting out etc. It was very apparent early on that ISU was going to stack 8-9 people in the box and make Rolo beat them. And he did more than that .. he DESTROYED them. So this is like a pick your poison offense now if we continue to be diverse this way and make passing plays down the field. Our offense definately has some teeth now and we can make teams PAY if they blitz us for the big play. That wasn't there early on in the year very much.

I'm not totally sure if Rolovich is a better QB than Carpenter only he looks downfield more. the O-line is DEFINITELY giving Rolovich more time to throw than they did Carpenter. Maybe this is the fact they know Rolovich isn't going to dump it off for small gains so they have to play off the line more.

I think it is a combination of a lot of things. The WR's coming along as well as the emergence of a RB that can take it to the house on any given play. Teams have to respect that and are now guarding a lot more field than they would have been early in the year. I do think Rolo looks more down field as well as has a LOT quicker release than Carpenter does. Carpenter throws a nice pass, but his delivery is a lot 'longer' stride wise than Rolo's. Rolo can fire that ball very well just standing there without having to use his legs/hips at all. That is why I think it almost looks like he has more time as he is usually zipping the ball out right at the last minute when the pressue is on him. I definately think our offense now has shown the other teams that we can beat you with the running attack and passing attack now so we should be a very very tough team to game plan for. You stop the run and we are going to pass on you, you stop the pass and your going to have to use a safety to do that with our WR corp coming into shape now --> RUNNING GAME BUSTS OUT etc.

We are getting better and better each game. The Griz I don't see you can say that about. They almost look like they have peaked some already and are regressing. Yes, they won, but I definately like our chances now when we play them. If Weber/NAU/PSU can put 20+ on them there is no reason the Cat offense can't do the same thing while holding them down on defense with our ever improving/healthy D!

I sure hope that we put our team up in the Hotel again this weekend as Weber IMPRESSED ME A LOT this weekend and I guarantee you this game will be a CAT FIGHT. We need to be focussed and attack them right away from the opening snap. I am challenging our D to hold Weber under 14 points this week as I'm sure we can get it done. Lets get that 12th man in there to pump the players up! NOISE NOISE NOISE! Lets go team, backs against the wall! Keep showing the fans how good of team we thought you were going to be this year! GO CATS!

I would hardly say that the Sac State and PSU games were good offensive game…

V for Vendetta starring GW Bush as Bailey Hater.

Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe we only scored 14 points against PSU because PSU has a pretty good defense? Or that Wheaton dropped 2 long passes, one in the endzone? We were up 21-0 at the half at Sac State. The major mistakes were in the 2nd half, and were on Kramer (Special teams) and penalties. I just don't get it.

GIVE IT UP MAN!

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.
