Jeremiah Ostrowski commits to the Cats

Post by mslacat » Wed Oct 18, 2006 10:12 am

In a previous post LTown Cat mentioned he saw Huse with a couple recruits at a restaurant. I am pretty sure one of those recruits was Jeremiah Ostrowski of Punahou High School in Honolulu, Hawaii . According to what I have heard he committed to the Cat's before he left Bozeman. Ostrowski is a 5-10 point guard and considered to be the best senior player in Hawaii. Talking with some folks, they felt the main thing holding him back from going Pac-10 was his height. At 5-9 to 5-10 not the tallest player, but he has started on his high school since he was a freshman, he can shoot it deep, take it to the hole and is explosive. He averaged 23 points a game on one of the best team in the state. He is also a legit D-1 football player at the wide receiver, kickoff return, and defensive back.

Air Force, Eastern Washington, Pepperdine, Santa Clara, Utah, and Washington State were also recruiting him.

Nice pick up.

I agree it's a nice pickup. I'm really liking the players Huse and the staff are going after and the way they are shaping this program.

Yes, it sounds like Huse really is working very hard with the current team and he is also pulling in some great talent for next year. I am very excited!

In speaking recently with one of the player's Dads, sounds like the players are excited also.

Is Washington State really a "Pac-10 type" school.

When can these guys actually sign the letter of intent?

I am very excited that Huse has a freshman point guard that will grow in this program along with Bobby Howard as a 3/4 player. The Cats will be playing in the big dance in a few years on a regular basis. Also any news on a post type player that would be an excellent complemant to this already outstanding recruiting class of 2007.

I am responding to a PM sent to me today by an egriz'r. I really do not want to repond directly to the smart-ass. This was the comment.
I saw the cats got a commit from a short little guard. I gotta tell you, as good as 99.9% of your posts are I spit up when you said he can take it to the hole. Come on! He will get his head taken off trying that ******, but I hope he does when and if he plays.
I asume this was my comment that he was reaponding to.

At 5-9 to 5-10 not the tallest player, but he has started on his high school since he was a freshman, he can shoot it deep, take it to the hole and is explosive.

OK I fully admit that high school players often have to adjust the game frm high school to college, but the comment was was a reference to his game as a high school player. The point I was tring to make is that the kid is simply not a player that camps out beyond the 3 point line and lofts up shots. He is a penetrator who can can blow by slower player and pull up for a midrange jumper, take it to the rim or dish it. So you maybe right, as your vaulted Griz thugs collasp on Ostrowski to take his head taken off for trying that ******, they will find Bobby Howard has recieved the pass and is slamming it home!

By the way though, If we want to bring a big Point guard in we do have 6-5 200lb Eric Rush.
Jeremiah Ostrowski, 5-9 SR PG Honolulu (Hawaii ) Punahou. Ostrowski has quickness, a very good shot to the stripe, a solid handle and a nice feel for the game. The only thing he’s missing is height. As a result, he probably ends up at the mid major level instead of a high major.
Jeremiah Ostrowski, 5-9 JR PG Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou, is a talented lead guard with the ability to score from multiple spots on the floor. While he’s a bit undersized, his combination of quickness and scoring ability make him a very intriguing prospect at the next level.
Jeremiah Ostrowski, 5-9 JR PG Honolulu (HI) Puhahou, is a quick, lead guard with a knack for scoring. His size may be an issue at the next level, but he can knock down shots and penetrate to find teammates open looks.
Jeremiah Ostrowski, 5-9 PG Aiea (Hawaii) Puliahou. The most talented point guard in the camp, Ostrowski dominated the game. He’s more skilled than Washington State freshman-to-be Derrick Low was at the same stage. Somewhat squat body, but strong and more explosive than he looks. Very good shooter, with an excellent feel for the game.
Jeremiah Ostrowski, 5-9 JR PG Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou, is the quickest guard in camp and he's able to get to the basket pretty much at will. He's got a nice shot to the stripe and he's a good defender. Size is the one issue at the next level, but mid majors are taking notice of him at this camp.

I was told what Jeremiah's vertical jump is, and if it's true, he won't have any problem taking "it" to the hole in the BSC. When I was being told about this kid, I thought there was no way in heck we would get him to commit.....I'll tell you what, the best recruiters in our conference have offices in Bobcat Circle...Cat hoops is just going to ROCK starting this season.

Montana State IS what "they" think Montana is.
