Bad Camera Work on Televised Games
For a change of subject, does anyone else agree that the camera work for all of the televised Bobcat games has been awful? How many times is the camera man focused down the field when the play is taking place at the line of scrimmage, or so zoomed in on one particular player that you can see the play develop? Have these guys ever watched a football game on tv before? I think it is fantastic that Max Media is televising the games, and I don’t want to bite the hand that feeds me, but come on guys, watch some football on Sunday and take some notes!

Absolutely.BelgradeBobcat wrote:I celebrate the fact that the game is on at all-one sony handicam on top of the press box is better than just the radio.
I was thinking of the opening kickoff when the camera man only rolled back to about the 25. The announcers were doing the play by play and all of the sudden here comes the guy with the ball into the picture. Good job guys.

We do get back-to-back Altitude broadcasts starting this weekend, I have been impressed by them when I watched EWU/UNC and ISU/UNC.

While there is always room for improvement, I will never ever criticize TV coverage of the Cats for fear of losing it. I am more than happy watching whatever they will put on, as BelgradeBobcat said even if that is a sony handycam.
This is one respect where Cats and Griz are truly spoiled. Take a poll of other I-AA schools, heck even low and mid level I-A schools and find out how many of their games are on TV and you will realize how lucky we are.

My comments were never intended to criticize the TV coverage; my intentions were to merely poke fun at some poor camera work. I have a sister that works with Max Media and KULR 8 so I'm well aware of the struggles they go through to bring us the broadcasts. I to am grateful that we have the handycam on top of the crows nest, I just hope the camera operator stays more on the game than the fans, and works on following the plays a little better.kmax wrote:While there is always room for improvement, I will never ever criticize TV coverage of the Cats for fear of losing it. First of all, I agree with the overlying theme within this thread that having tv coverage of the Bobcat games is AWESOME!
However, if you are from Billings or ever watch the news from either KULR or KTVQ they BOTH are aweful when it comes to camera-work on sports. It doesn't matter which sport, the camera is always zoomed in and "attempts" to follow the ball and only succeeds in making the viewer dizzy! Even my wife complains about how poor the quality is on both stations. I have phoned and e-mailed both stations and requested the camera person pull back and let the viewer watch the play/highlight develop, but apparantly they aren't rushing out to make me happy!
