I pulled this section out of today's Chronicle. I love the attitude! Playing like you are in the backyard is what we need right now, very cool!
If you want to see the full article it is linked on the main Bobcat Nation page.
In addition to punting 20 times, Rolovich has played four games as a quarterback, completing 13 of 30 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown. He has been intercepted once.
Rolovich played a backup role at the University of Hawaii, the school he attended for four years (one as a redshirt) before transferring to MSU in January.
He came here seeking the starting job, but has been the No. 2 since Carpenter was named starter in August.
“I’m not going to prepare for the (Sac State) game any different because I always assume that I’m going to play,” Rolovich said before Tuesday’s practice. “But I think my mental preparation has got to be more fine-tuned.”
Rolovich hasn’t started at quarterback since 2001, his senior year at San Marin High School in Novato, Calif. The game was for the Northern California sectional championship against crosstown rival Novato High and Rolovich threw a touchdown pass on the first play of a game San Marin eventually lost.
Five years later, he says he won’t get too keyed up for what might be first first college start.
“I don’t really get nervous,” he said. “That’s something that’s always been one of my best attributes. When I go in there, I play like I’m playing in the backyard, but just on a bigger scale.”
Rolovich added that he isn’t planning on working on any specific part of his game. The outcome is all he’s concerned with.
“I just want to win,” he said. “Coach Kramer always says ‘go out there and have fun,’ but it’s hard to have fun when you’re losing. Winning is the goal for the weekend.”

I think Rolovich is going to do very well this weekend and will find a rythym in practice with his recievers and backs. Look for Rolo to get a good pace going with the offense and to spread the ball around to all recievers. I think the Sac game will be our best win yet! Good luck Rolo and have fun winning. You have some great tools to work with.

Is Rolo starting for certain? Is Carpenter injured or something? I want to make an internet bet on this game, and knowing which QB will play will influence my betting decision.
By the way, the Cat are +2 points this week.

Rolo is practicing with the ones this week. Carpenter was still in an air cast yesterday and didn't practice then (I don't know about today). At this point Carpenter is listed as probable. But, tomorrow they will make a decision on how well his high ankle sprain is healing. If it's not good he wil be moved to "doubtful" with a gametime decision made on Saturday as to who will play.

What kind of mobility does Rolo have? I saw in the GFT that Kramer said he was mobile. I certainly think he can move and make adjustments.

He looked pretty good running the ball on the fake punt he did earlier this season. Really nice stiff arm he gave out too.

Speaking of punts....
It's a pretty safe bet that Bolton will be punting for us instead of Rolo. I'm glad to see this - Tyler's got a great leg.

I am wondering if Rolo will have a Joe Volek type of day against SSU? Does anybody remember JV coming in and lighting it up (Weber? or NAU) for a ton of yards and a handful of TD's?

Tell me I'm not the only one who laughed when he read this part. Come on, you have to see why it is kinda funny.

It's not a lock. It all depends on what kind of week in practice he had. Evidetly, as good as he does at catching passes as a receiver, he has dropped two long snaps in games and several in practice. Kramer wants to use him, but will not take a chance on the disastrous implications if he can't get the snap-catch down (Kramer said he is a "body" catcher).
He hasa couple of people in mind that he was going to try in this position this week. I do like Bolton's leg. But, I guess we'll see on Saturday who takes care of this duty.

Kramer told us yesterday that Rolovich was 74 for 74 on completions in practice Tuesday. When he and Bailey looked at the practice films they couldn't believe it.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll change my statement to say that it's a pretty safe bet that Rolo will not be doing the punting - who will is yet to be seen.
Any other info from Cat Chat last night, or any other QBC meetings??

I heard that stat too. Today's Chronicle says 71 of 74. Either way that is amazing. That means not only was Rolo on target, but the WRs were on fire!

I would also think that they are in tune with each other. I also hope that it was 71 0f 74 for 895 yards, not for 229 yards. lol

In that article Rolovich is quoted as saying that he's a vertically minded QB who really loves to throw the ball down the field.

One other thing that I thought was significant in the game films Kramer showed us was the "pancake" Big Lou served up on J.C. Niusulu (all conference DT from UCLA). He engaged and pushed him three or four yards into the secondary and put him flat on his back. After that Niusulu started cursing and throwing punches, but was never a factor after that.

Cursing in Samoan. At one point Siataga came onto the field and said something back to him in Samoan (later translated to say that he was not representing his samoan heritage with honor and that he should be ashamed of himself) that immediately caused Niusulu's shoulders to droop and retreat to his huddle like a child who had just been scolded.
When Kramer told this story, the whole room laughed.

For Siataga and Big Lou
