Matt Daugherty's Picks for the week

It's kind of funny when he picks us to beat Sac State, and then apologizes to us for picking us. Maybe Matt also believes in the Daugherty "jinx".

I guess just give the Griz the big sky crown right now. No one is going to beat them according to Matt. Just wait though, one of those games is coming for the Griz where they turn it over more than their opponent and won't get the punt return/defensive return for TD. Hopefully that is this week.

Dammit Matt. That's it, no more free food next time you come to Bozeman!

You sir, are correct, it will come. The BSC is a tough conference and we've been fortunate to win two tough one's on the road...just hope it's not at home. I see a stumble at Weber. [-o<

And you call yourself a fan? Come on, it is one thing to be realistic, but you never predict a stumble by your team. Do I think Matt is wrong to basically say the Big Sky is in the hands of the Griz? You bet I do, but the beauty of this is that the team takes it one game at a time and leaves all this other crap to people like us.

While I concede the Griz have been lucky, just take a look at the current stats, they are at the top or near the top in all major areas. If Cat fans want to say the Griz are only winning because they have had some lucky plays, then good luck come November. The Griz have had breaks, but good teams find ways to win.

The Big Sky is not the place to relax on any given week, and to say given the scedule and the current record the Griz SHOULD win out is not a stretch, what really happens remains to be seen. Knock on wood, but injuries and other factors can change things in one play and leaving your starter in well into the fourth when you have a comfortable lead could hurt you too. ( Hear that Bobby?)

Bottom line is the Cats have to win out to get a shot at post season play, I actually am hoping for them to win out until they play the Griz. It will be just that much sweeter when it happens.

Not saying they have been getting lucky winning, just saying that there will be a few close games I bet that pop up just because the weather and the way the ball is shaped :) It will be up to the Griz to pull those close one's out. But to say they have a cakewalk left to win the conference it is too early to be saying that. Matt's comments on that really disrespected the Big Sky in my opinion if he is saying that stuff already.

I didn't realize INT's, forced fumbles, and long punt/kick returns were now categorized in the LUCK category.

It is also funny that the Griz are the only team with luck, no team the Griz have played have had any "lucky" plays...at least not against the Griz.

Please note the "Lucky" comment came from a Griz fan. Cardiac said that your team may be due to not return a special teams play for a td and may be due to not cause timely turnovers.

I do think the Griz do a great job in these areas. But, the comment wasn't about luck. It was about whether or not opposing teams will continue to have this problem against them or not.

from a realistic standpoint, i don't think matt is far off base here....

really . . . the Cats should beat sac state by that score. i'm thinking there will be some let downs and maybe a closer score, but still the Cats should win. i hope we click and the Cats blow them out - but that is the fan in me.

really . . . the Cats have yet to prove themselves to those outside of BN. i think they are a better team then their record and what they did during the 3 game skid, but rankings/etc are not based on that potential. by the way, i like the position we are in now (and yes - it definately could be better).

really . . . the Cats do have the potential to win out IF they improve each week as they have the last few and we catch some breaks. the Cats will have to play each week and be at their best to take a win from the griz in missoula. all tough games ahead.

really . . . the griz should beat nau big. i think they are due for a few mistakes here and there still, but nothing that will cost them this game. nau should throw a few more points on the board then prior griz opponents (excluding iowa) making it a lot closer then some think - but still a griz win.

really . . . the griz have the best shot at finishing 9-2 (betting there is at least one loss in there). they are the front runners and have done well sholdering that load over the years. expectation is high and they have come through so far. that is a tough spot to be in.

really . . . the BSC isn't all that powerful of a league this year (in my opinion). with one nationally ranked team and a couple other good teams, it really isn't that strong. i may be wrong here as well.

so am i upset with matt or griz fans for their comments . . . not really.

Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

The Griz have always been really good at getting those special teams/defensive scores for TD's. I assume it is because of the quick defenses they usually employ as well as crowd noise in Washington Griz. Believe me .. opportunistic D's are awesome to have. Hopefully the Cats will get some scores like that too by the end of the year. Really pumps the teams up that is for sure.

For the Griz it's not a crown.
It's a tiara.

The only thing coming to an end this weekend is you and Matt's losing streak! :)

Do any of you really believe that PSU is still a top 25 team. Same 3-3 record as the Cats after back to back losses. They will lose to Oregon. No chance for the playoffs with 2 losses in conference and it being to UM,MSU. If there is a tie it will be with one or both of these teams. Do you really think if MSU had lost to Colorado, won its next 3 then lost to NAU and PSU they would be ranked. Not a chance. PSU offensively is not that good and will lose at least one more conference game.

I think you're right, but it won't be against the Cats
