Rankings mean nothing anymore for MSU. We lose one more game and we are done for an at large bid (4 losses). We need to just take it one game at a time. Everyone is writing the Cats off (mostly Griz fans etc.) and we need to fight and claw every game for the rest of the season to have a shot at the playoffs. It can be done though. Weber won like 6-7 in a row I do believe to end the year in 2003-2004 I do believe so it can be done. Our team is getting healthy now and there are less mistakes being made which should bode well for out team. Our offense is now balanced with a running game and the passing game is coming along. We again should be the underdogs this week as well as Sac State has won 2 in a row (1 over a team that beat us) so we still need to carry that chip on our shoulder this week as Sac State I'm sure has some confidence in them after the last 2 weeks. Considering how we have played terrible down there the last 3-4 years in the Sunshine state we cannot afford to lose our focus or our chip on our shoulder. The leaders of the team/coaches need to stress it this week that going to California is NOT a vacation. Time for business. If we can get through the next 2 weeks unscathed I think we can run the table and make for a showdown with the Griz at the end of the year.soldier668 wrote:I think it's actually good were not back in the top 25 this week. I don't know maybe I'm crazy but I think we tend to play worse when were ranked. We seem to play better with our backs against the wall.

Force was quoted today in the Chronicle as saying almost the exact same thing. I think they're focused and will stay that way.CARDIAC_CATS wrote:Rankings mean nothing anymore for MSU. Make a legitimate case for any of the teams not ranked to be above the Cats right now and I will buy your theory. I don't know if you want to call it parity or what, but beyond about the top 15 or so in I-AA right now there is just no one really standing out.theblackgecko wrote:I'm not trying to smack here, but I don't think a legitimate case can be made that the 'Cats are the 31st best team in the nation. Gecko-
The Cats were 36th in last week's GPI rankings(takes into account many variables in determining the rankings). And when the new GPI comes out this week, I would expect the Cats to be in the top 30 after dismantling a PSU squad(ranked 8th in last weeks GPI) that many had as one of the tops in the nation. A PSU team that many a Griz fan stated as being the 2nd best in the conference. So for us to be 31st, that isn't quite a stretch now is it?
Not smack either, just the facts.

I'm not voting homer. I put the Cats at 24 this week and I think they deserve it. Call me what you will, but I can find it hard to put many of the "others receiving votes" teams ahead of the Cats.theblackgecko wrote:I'm not trying to smack here, but I don't think a legitimate case can be made that the 'Cats are the 31st best team in the nation. I also had the 'Cats 24 this week. I spent quite a bit of time Sunday putting my ballot together. Like kmax said- after the top 15 or so it gets very difficult to rank teams at this point in the season.longhorn_22 wrote:I'm not voting homer. Yes it does. The top 15-20 is relatively easy for me, but every week the final 5-10 take a lot of time to think about.GOKATS wrote:I also had the 'Cats 24 this week. You need to come visit me at work then. 3-4 weeks ago all the Griz fans came out of the woodwork saying the Griz were locks for the conference/Cats sucked bla bla bla. I told them this team has A LOT of talent and just hasnt' put it together yet. Funny how all of them are so quiet now.DaGriz wrote:Yeah, Cat fans haven't written off the season at all this year. Especially not the last 3 weeks. It's us Griz fans. Actually, on this board, I have seen more Griz fans saying the sky hasn't fallen yet than I have Cat fans.Everyone is writing the Cats off (mostly Griz fans etc.)

You can tell it's October because the back and forth action of the Cats/Griz starts to heat up...39 days until it's decided for another year.CARDIAC_CATS wrote:You need to come visit me at work then. 3-4 weeks ago all the Griz fans came out of the woodwork saying the Griz were locks for the conference/Cats sucked bla bla bla. I didn't put the Cats in this week, but they were close. My bottom 5-7 teams are moving around constantly, and if the Cats win again this week, they will probably make it into my poll. This is the Cats team I thought we would see this season, stocked on defense, up and coming on offense.GOKATS wrote:I also had the 'Cats 24 this week.
