Carpenter Possible for Sac. State
In the Chronicle today they reported that Cory Carpenter might be "possible" for the game in Sacramento. I really hope that whether he is or not, Kramer sticks with Rolovich as the starter.

Hopefully he's well enough to hold for xtra pts and FGs. That XP with Rolo holding was an adventure.profisme wrote:In the Chronicle today they reported that Cory Carpenter might be "possible" for the game in Sacramento. If anything this is good gamesmanship by Kramer. Sac will have to prepare for both quarterbacks (not that either would really strike fear into their hearts).
If Carpenter is still walking around in a cast I find it very unlikely that he would play on Saturday. But it would be good if he could be the holder at least.

Big Sky Report: Cats defense ruled the day against Vikings
By GREG RACHAC
Of The Gazette Staff
Deep down, Montana State coach Mike Kramer knew his Bobcat team was about to break out on the defensive side of the football, and it did just that on Saturday in a 14-0 win over Portland State at home.
For the previous three home games, the defense staggered as MSU went winless in those contests.
But against Portland State, the Bobcats held a potent offense to just 132 total yards of offense, the fourth lowest number in the seven-year Kramer era.
"It's been disastrous," said Kramer, noting his team's home defeats to Chadron State, UC-Davis and Eastern Washington. "Those last three home games, the way we played, that was embarrassing. That was not us. "But we twisted things a little bit this weekend, and I think that helped us today. You can use a lot of different words - and I know a lot of them - but it was a magnificent job by our defense."
Changes the Cats made included treating this game as a road game, of sorts. The Bobcats spent Friday night in a hotel in Livingston. Also, the Bobcats benefited most from the return of safety Ryan Force and defensive end Aaron Papich, who had both been out with injury.
Force's impact in the secondary was felt immediately. Force had a few big hits while his teammates swarmed to the ball. MSU had a pair of interceptions in the game. Up front, Papich helped lead a group that recorded three sacks on Viking quarterbacks Sawyer Smith and Brian White. In addition, the Cats held Portland State to just 59 yards rushing.
Stepping in: Rolovich now the man at MSU
Cory Carpenter's sprained ankle on a broken play on the last play of the third quarter Saturday set the stage for backup quarterback Jack Rolovich to be the man.
According to Kramer, Carpenter will be out two to three weeks, so the next stretch of games belongs to Rolovich, a junior transfer from Hawaii with a rocket arm.
Rolovich played O.K. in his one quarter of duty (5-of-8, 55 yards, 1 TD), but will need to step up during the course of the next couple weeks as the Bobcats travel to Sacramento State and Idaho State.
Jinxed: Brian White's Bobcat dilemma
Brian White must hate the Montana State Bobcats. As a backup quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes, White watched in disbelief as MSU upset CU on the opening week of the season.
After transferring to Portland State about a week later, White was thrust into the lineup for an ineffective Sawyer Smith Saturday afternoon in Bozeman.
White was swarmed under by the Bobcat defense, finishing 2-of-7 for 34 yards and was sacked twice.
Running away: Griz make short work of EWU
The Montana Grizzlies put together a great defensive effort of their own on Saturday, stuffing Eastern Washington for a 33-17 road win.
Cornerback Jimmy Wilson had three interceptions and six tackles as the unit's ringleader. Tuff Harris got the party started for UM, returning a punt 94 yards in the first quarter to give the team a 14-0 lead.
With Northern Arizona visiting Washington-Grizzly Stadium this week, the Grizzlies continue to establish themselves as the best team in the Big Sky Conference.

You're right that was posted. But, in today's Chronicle there is an article that talks directly about how the injury isn't as bad as originally feared and that he may be able to go on Saturday.PDXKat wrote:Big Sky Report: Cats defense ruled the day against Vikings
