I'm pretty sure that Rob Carpenter doesn't have any eligibility left after playing for Houston and the NY Giants from 1977-1986. As a matter of fact, I think he has a kid who either played or is still playing at Ohio State. That being the case, perhaps this is like the classic Robert Conrad movie "Glory Days" where a middle aged man decides to go back to college and somehow ends up quarterbacking the team and single handedly saves the football program through a sheer force of will that only Robert Conrad could muster.
