So, what are the odds that this is just some sort of self perpetuating story? Someone hears a rumor about a big gift and the rumor spreads and it gets posted on BN. Someone else reads the BN post, talks about it to other folks and that rumor spreads and someone posts on BN; "I heard about a big gift too."

The story morphs, the numbers get inflated, etc.

Has anyone actually heard anything about this gift from a legitimate and reliable source in the athletic department/university leadership and not some sort of vague comment from a pod cast, ex-coach, or friend of a friend?

Impossible. Any story that leads to an 12 page thread has to be legit. Even Sam Herder wrote a sentence in a recent article that could/should/must be interpreted as hinting at it.

I think people are just joking about the fact that a whole lot of people are insinuating that they know something about this but nobody ever gives any detailed information about it. I suspect that whatever this is is real and not just an unfounded rumor or April Fools joke, but who knows exactly what it is or when it will happen!

While in Frisco I asked the person in the Athletics department who would be responsible for bringing something like this in. They either deserve an Oscar for acting or they truly had no idea what I was talking about.

Stadium expansion/upgrade or a move up. The fact there hasn’t been any leaking of information leads me to think this is all about nothing. I’m not in the know, but the guys that I know are, haven’t said anything or acted like anything is up. I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Money to fully fund all future athletic scholarships, allowing MSU to set their own full scholarship limit, not just the current 63. More to it right now than just money, but it's a possibility.

To me, the fact that there aren't any rumors floating around about um getting something similar, means that it isn't about moving up.

I have a feeling this is all about nothing too, but I still have hope.
