Fair... but usually there is a reason behind a hot take, right?? I'm just looking for a reason to believe!

Re: Hot Takes
They beat Wyoming and do have a ranked fcs win. If you consider the Cats win over New Mexico a good win then Wyoming win is the exact same for Idaho. They stomped Albany at home, too. All of this with their freshman, maybe redshirt freshman, QB. Can’t say for sure but I don’t think the Cats beat New Mexico if Chance or Jordan is under center the entire game. Idahos defense held Oregon to 24 pts. Meanwhile Boise and Oregon St allowed them to score nearly twice that.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 2:33 pmWho’s the good opponent they beat?Team10 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 1:21 pmI think Idaho is the best team in the conference at this point. If/Once the 'Cats get back a few key players that may switch. Even with them playing their 2nd & 3rd string QBs, they've played tough against good opponents and come away with wins. Gonna be a great game on ESPN2 if both teams have their true #1s playing in that game.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 3:11 amHome crowd probably gives us 6-7 points, and I just think we’re better than them. People give them more credit for beating Wyoming than us beating New Mexico, which makes no sense to me, Wyoming looks absolutely terrible so far. Our defense is improved, should be healthier by then, and we have more offensive weapons.

Wyoming might have the worst offense in the FBS. I watched them against Idaho. They’re not what I would consider to be good. New Mexico is better.Team10 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 7:30 amThey beat Wyoming and do have a ranked fcs win. Beating a ranked Albany was like when we beat a highly ranked William & Mary. Those schools just can’t compete with the best. They’re only ranked because somebody has to be ranked.
Regarding the Oregon game, Oregon struggled the first couple weeks and then made an OL change that seems to have helped. But if you want to compare how defenses have done, it’s not hard to argue that MSU’s defense has performed the best of any school to play New Mexico.

I put this one on the pod this week but I think it’s a good one… Tommy throws for 100+ in 3 or less drives this week.

Re: Hot Takes
Gris over under 2.5 BSC losses?
I predict EWU is going to give them a game now that the gris can’t rely on the noise. If Ah Yat is out I think this could change a lot either for better or worse.
Weber the following week could give them a good game in Missoula
NAU has shown they are legit but offense seems very questionable.
UCD will be their biggest challenge in wagris
Cats should control them as the gris seem to be all offense this year… unless the defense finds their rhythm I expect dominance in Bozeman.
I could see 3 losses but wa gris will be their only defense.

Re: Hot Takes
Eastern might give them a game. I don't think Weber is going to give them much of a game. NAU is not good offensively and neither is Davis. I had Davis as a top BSC contender coming into this year, but after watching 3 of their games, they just aren't very good offensively. Larison is a great back, but Hastings hasn't improved at QB over the last 3 years. Their RZ offense is anemic.
Under 2.5 losses.

Going to have to go back and look, but I am pretty sure the number one defense has only allowed 17 points so far this year. 17 againt New Mexico, zero againt Utah Tech, I think they blanket Maine and blanked Mercy.
Hot take, the starting 11 on defense is legit.

Re: Hot Takes
The no. 1 defense is actually about 17-18 players or so. A few of them stay on the field as the rest of the 2s - 3s come on. But to your point, the main defense has allowed just 24 points. 17 to New Mexico and 7 to Maine.canyoncat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 2:16 pmGoing to have to go back and look, but I am pretty sure the number one defense has only allowed 17 points so far this year. 17 againt New Mexico, zero againt Utah Tech, I think they blanket Maine and blanked Mercy.

They only allowed 71 yards in the first half yesterday. Giving up around 4 yards per play.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).
