With how strong MSU's program is right now and with the IPF coming which will also have track facilities, I have a hard time seeing UM winning it anytime soon.
And I agree MSU01 on the math. Counting on six T&F XC points each year just means dumb has to win 9 out of 11 remaining points to win the trophy back. Not likely.

Their fans will just downplay the overall trophy and say that the only sports that matter are football and basketball.RICO CAT wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 8:51 amYou read my mind.Cledus wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 8:40 amThey'll get the regents to change how it's scored.CatBot wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 2:46 pmYes, football is two points.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 2:29 pmIs football worth two points?MSU01 wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 6:51 amThis year's Brawl of the Wild series shows just how much impact Track & Field has on it, if you win the 6 XC/T&F points then you only need 3 out of a possible 11 points in the other sports to win overall. Football - 2
MBB - 2
WBB - 1
Tennis - 1
What was the other point? Volleyball?
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Yeah, split in the regular season but the Cats beat um in volleyball again in the tourney and the Mens basketball, obviously, beat the gris in the tourney as well. Sucks that those wins don't count for points, but I get why.

Pretty wild Cat-Griz though:
Big win for UM in football
Big win for MSU men in basketball
Scary injury to Limardo in women’s basketball
Wild race to finish in men’s 4x400 between Grundy and UM runner
Those would be my four most memorable Cat-Griz moments this season. In no particular order. I’m sure I missed a few.

Men's tennis would be another one, the Griz led 3-1 but MSU won the last three singles matches to come back and win 4-3. Definitely a lot of interesting moments this year! On paper MSU should be better this year in WBB and Football has the advantage of playing that game at home. MBB looks like they have some strong recruits but the impact of losing Robert Ford will be a major question mark. I don't follow volleyball closely enough to make a prediction but MSU's new coach did a hell of a job in his first year.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 2:15 pmPretty wild Cat-Griz though:

I think the most lopsided win was the first year when UM won 14-3 in 2014. UM won the first three.MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 2:27 pmMen's tennis would be another one, the Griz led 3-1 but MSU won the last three singles matches to come back and win 4-3. So UM won in 2014, 2015, 2016. '14 and '16 were blowouts. Peter Fields was non-renewed in 2016. Since then, MSU has won every Brawl of the Wild series. I get it, UM has had their own issues that have contributed to this, but Leon must be doing something right!TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 7:21 pmI think the most lopsided win was the first year when UM won 14-3 in 2014.
