What were the dimensions of the old scoreboard? And video screen?
Image

Based on the above picture and the fact that goal posts are 18 feet 6 inches apart, I estimate the existing video portion to be no bigger than 30 feet by 18 feet high. Overall 30' X 45'.

God that thing is going to be sexy. What an upgrade
What's the next project upon completion of the scoreboard? Any word on when the stands are replaced and more seating? Last year the average attendance was nearly 20k in a stadium with less than 18k listed capacity. MSU is growing in all phases and adequate facilities are struggling to keep up with the demand.

Next major project is the indoor practice facility. I would expect an announcement on that project by the start of the football season.

If you know of any big donors for the East grandstands and North end zone, hit them up.

Thanks. One can assume it will be an actual building and not an inflatable balloon?

When did the location change?
When they realized they would rather not have our star athletes cross Kagy everyday to practice anymore

One can assume Kagy will soon be a memory and closed to all traffic. The sooner the better, in my opinion.

The original 2017 Facilities Plan called for an underground tunnel to be built below Kagy to connect the BAC and Indoor Facility. Since the new IPF will be a football-only facility instead of the original design that houses multiple sports, it makes sense to keep it nearer the BAC and stadium.

Is that now the plan. I thought it was still going to be used for T&F

The photos earlier on this page of the new plan show it as a football-only building, just a field and a few small storage/restrooms on one side.

We lived near the intersection of Kagy and Highland (just a ways down from the Choate family). Before Kagy was paved, and before W. Kagy was completed from 11th to 19th it was pretty much a lousy drive to get to anywhere on the west side of town, like all the grocery stores. If there is not a very good alternative, closing Kagy would be a return to those nightmare days. We often had to take Willson down to W. College. The narrow trail piece of College from Willson to Eighth would never handle today’s traffic load.

I agree, it makes a ton of sense. But, I still like the original locations far far better. But, my opinion means nothing. Ha!

I thought this location tied everything together. The new location to me is "just squeeze it in way back here and forget the other sports."

I'm not certain, but from the sounds of the MSU hotel proposal that hotel would be built somewhere near where the indoor practice facility was orginally planned. A lot is happening now.

I imagine it was inconvenient. I also have to point out that in my life, I've lived in communities about the size of Bozeman. Their planners saw the growth and put a bypass (or beltway if you prefer) around the town. Similar to what the former Montana Transportation Director did around Kalispell, only instead of routing traffic to Whitefish, they would have gone to the airport and directly to Glacier Park. MSU is no longer a secret as fifty six percent of their enrollment are non-residents, just as Big Sky and Moonlight Basin are comprised of wealthy non-residents. Growth is happening and as someone mentioned, it makes little sense to have a busy street through the middle of campus. The school I received my bachelors and Army Commission from looks so much different on the ground than when I was in school and there was traffic in front of the SUB and library between Montana Hall and football was played near Trap. I wonder what the community is going to think when MSU has to have a decent shuttle or trolley service and the school continues to grow? Gallatin County up the canyon is now an international convention and recreation destination location.

I'M pretty sure this is not the case. " football only" It really depends on how the fundraising ends up on how much of a track gets installed.

Just going by the revised plans MSU themselves have released. I'm not sure why we'd have any reason to believe that this isn't what they're planning to build at the current time.

From the newspaper article.

“The hotel will be along South Seventh Avenue, south of Norm Asbjornson Hall and near the university’s north and south dome gyms.”
