Cats win, 84-72. I just got back a few minutes ago and I'll share my postgame thoughts here.
The first half was really close, matching point for point, and led to a 45-45 halftime tie. Cats pulled away in the second half and took good care of the ball for most of the game. I was pleased with the win overall and the ball handling.
It was a very productive night from both guard positions. Casey really had a good night and helped to seal the win by hitting 8 of 8 free throws down the stretch. He also did this while he was sick; he was throwing up at halftime. Derrick Edmonds had a great night and hit some key shots and what can you say about JaRon Jefferson that hasn't been said already? He dunked for the first time as a Bobcat and scored 23 or so. If the Cats do find a way to win the regular season, which they very well could do, JaRon should be the Big Sky MVP. He seemed to hit every key shot. Jacques Wilson also hit a 3 and did well to spell Casey.
Nick did well, but didn't really score too much. I think he only scored 6. Marvin didn't get any points in the first half but picked up 8 in the second. He played a good physical game. Carson Durr played good minutes and contributed solid minutes and Taylor Pratt had 2 points with good solid minutes. Al Beye had a great night offensively and blocked quite a few shots. He really did well tonight and Ted Morris had a few points, grabbed some key rebounds, and contributed good minutes.
Idaho State's Tim Henry came out and scored 23 and Schroeder scored 17, but the team went cold in the second half. Slim Milien isn't a bad player, but is badly undersized to play center in the Big Sky. ISU had an agressive effort, but fell short. They should still be in the conference race and they'll be better at home.
Overall, the Cats had a great weekend. Home court is pretty important in this league; the home team won all 8 this weekend. I just hope they carry over this same effort against the Grizzlies next week. I'm really looking forward to that one.

Attebury said Jefferson dunked for the first time as a Bobcat-but I think I remember him dunking one early last season.
I think maybe ISU's main guys wore down in the second half-they went ice cold as we pulled away. They don't go very deep and their main scoring comes from Henry, Schroeder, and Millien. Henry especially was on fire in the first half-couldn't miss. Casey Durham was giving up about 5 inches on him and Henry was just shooting over him. ISU was a tough match up outside because their guards are pretty tall. Inside, Millien can jump out of the gym, but he couldn't shoot over Al Beye and Al could score over Millien. Tonight may have been Al's best complete game as a Bobcat. Eary in the game Al had 10 of our first 13 points.
I loved how we shared the ball. Moss deferred on several shots swinging the ball around to an often wide open Jefferson who really stuck that medium range jumper tonight. Jefferson seems to get his points so quiety and gradually you're surprised to see he had 23! He's having a tremendous season so far.
Mick Durham said on the post game show that Casey ran into the locker room before halftime to throw-up and later had to...er..."throw up" out the other end! He may have eaten something that didn't agree with him. But instead of his typical 1 of 2 from the line he hit 8 in a row in second half to stop any inkling of an ISU comeback.
This was a crucial win because I doubt us or anyone is going to beat this ISU team in Pocatello with the way they can shoot the ball. It's taken Doug Oliver a long time to build that team, but he's starting to put the pieces in place. They probably need a little more strength inside to be a real contender though.

Box score from ESPN.com.

Moss had 8 points, 15 rebounds, 6 ast's, and 3 t/o's - outstanding effort on the glass.
Beye had 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 blocks (yes, 6!)
Ja'Ron was 10-16 from the floor for 25 points - was our go-to guy, only 1 assist, rebound and turnover. Player of the week again for this team.
Nick had 6 points on 2 huge threes, 3 rebounds, 4 ast's, 1 block, and NO turnovers.
Casey was 0-4 from the floor, but hit 9-10 freethrows to seal the win, with 5 rebounds and assists, and only 1 t/o, in a gutty perfomance tonight.
Edmonds played 20 minutes off the bench and scored 12 on 3 threes and a 3-point-play. 2 of his 3 rebounds were offensive.
Speaking of bench players, our bench outscored thiers 21-10 - there's your ballgame. The only bobcat not to score was Wilson, but as Mick said, his 11 minutes were huge to spell a sick Casey tonight. Pratt made a jumper from the top of the key and blocked a shot. Ted played 10 minutes good for 4 points and 2 rebounds.
Two solid wins in a row for this team. They played 5 games in 10 days, now they have a break until Cat-Griz. We need to pack the house for that game. BE THERE - BE LOUD - GO CATS!

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Congrats on the win tonight guys, Sac got a huge win tonight too. We were up on EWU by about 30 in the first half, cruised to a 19 point lead even without Jason Harris. You guys are lucky, Harris' first game back will be against you guys week after next. Watch out for Rodney Stuckey of EWU, he is an amazing player.

Last night was the first game that I've been to this season and I was impressed, mostly by how unselfish a lot of the players were, especially Moss. He passed up quite a few shots that he probably would have taken last year. There was some great ball movement out of the team too. Jefferson is a stud, nothing else to say. Al also had a great game and really lit a fire under everyone, including the crowd. Great job to Durham for gutting it out last night, we saw him go running to the locker room with a little less then two minutes left in the first half and had no idea why. Also, did Dissly hurt something last night, he had an ice pack on his quad and came out for awhile at the start of the second half and looked like he was in some pain. He came back so it couldn't have been too serious. Great effort all around and I'm looking forward to Saturday's game. Go Cats!

Great game Saturday, great game. This was not the team I expected to see to be quiet honest with you all.
Casey played very well, he continues to overacheive IMO. He is constantly overmatched on the court, yet he continues to hold his own. Keep it up Casey, I wish the whole team had half the heart you have.
Jefferson is flat out awesome. As good as he was last year, he's even better this year. I wonder if Miller no longer in Bozeman has made JaRon a better player as of late? JaRon is definitely starting to take over as a team leader, that is what I like most about him.
Moss has a great second half - one of Qadre Lollis proportions. Way to work the glass in the second half Marvin! Cats really needed that toughness out there.
Edmonds was fantastic off the bench. If he played more minutes, he could really be a great scorer.
Dissly, he hit 2 big 3's, but other than that you wouldnt even know he was on the court. No way does he deserve to start over Derrick Edmonds, no way. Casey Durham out rebounded Nick... c'mon. Does anyone who went to the game Saturday seriously think anyone on ISU could guard Nick Dissly? No way, and yet Nick grabs 3 boards and hits 2 threes for the game in 30 minutes... find your game Nick, or find a seat! Please, at least show an effort out there.
But all in all, great win for the Cats. ISU is not bad at all, they are pretty decent squad. That will be a tough game in Pocky.
Looking forward to Cat-Griz on Saturday. That will be a huge win! Go get 'em Cats!
