Actually, there was some talk about the Griz being the next Gonzaga possibly when Kennedy was hired by Hogan...unfortunately any Griz fan that brought it up was quickly cannibalized by his own (other Griz Fans) Many Griz fans (for reasons I still do not understand) don't like them thar east coasters too muchwhitetrashgriz wrote:nice post dexter. i always appreciate when griz fans say their piece, make valid points, and dont go out of there way to sound like an ass. i think what is funny about the gonzaga talk is that i believe that the talk is directly related to your success this season. can't take anything away from you guys, you're playing well. but i think the fact remains that the big sky is always a crap-shoot. and people probably did make fun of gonzaga in the beginning. especially to the fans that thought they were a top 10 team the first season that they started winning. their was no talk of um being the next gonzaga last year. or the year before. so the talk now seems funny. but like you said, i hope that someone in the big sky makes a name for themselves, even if it has to be you guys!
Not that Kennedy was a great coach, but he did get us some great recruits at least. And I still maintain that Hogan was great for the U of M....people seem to forget all of the good things he did for the U of M (Joe Glenn, the new field, scoreboard, etc etc etc) Anyway, I like Krysko much better as a coach than Kennedy...Kennedy was a terrific recruiter though, and Krysko seems to be recruiting very well also and doing a great job as a coach! I do see more talk of the Griz possibly being the next Gonzaga though than in previous years..probably because us doing the talking aren't getting their heads ripped off by other Griz fans as soon as its posted now
