I have to be honest, why would Larsen get upset that Kramer wanted him to play TE and pass on the Cats for a chance to play for the Griz? The reason is simple; if Larsen isn’t considering the Cats because he wants to play QB why would he possibly consider the Griz? They will have a sophomore, freshman and the “best” high school QB (Selle) that will already be familiar with the system by the time he is eligible to play (Washington doesn’t matter). That would give him his senior year… Going to the Griz for the chance to play QB is not the best move a high school kid like Larsen could make, grey shirt or not…

I'm beginning to think that Coach Kramer sees a lot of Lulay in Desin. I won't be surprised if he gets reps next fall camp at QB, redshirts, and then gives it a shot for a year in 2007. If he looks good, maybe he gets some PT. If it doesn't work out, he can always be moved to another position.CatGrad00 wrote:Don't underestimate Desin......he has potential to be another Dave Dickinson. Totally agree. I don't think that is the best fit for him at all. Maybe he is choosing the UMMM for it's academics?mquast53000 wrote:I have to be honest, why would Larsen get upset that Kramer wanted him to play TE and pass on the Cats for a chance to play for the Griz? Just got off the phone with my brother who talked to Larson. The Griz are not totally out but have only a hope and a prayer if they are still interested, the Bobcats are definitely in the running as engineering is his interest, Carroll is not really in the running any longer, but Green from Montana Tech realized Larson is interested in engineering and offered a full ride... just sign on the dotted line and is hot in the running. There you have it. His ultimate preference is MSU Bobcats! But the offer needs to be there and right now I am not sure or it may only be a half scholarship. If he has the talent and dedication (and I think he does) to be D1AA he should give it a shot at the least... can always drop down if things don't work out. But this kid is a great kid... with a huge upside.

I agree. If he is even only given a partial up front he should still go to MSU and see where he stands for 1-2 years. He could then transfer no problem to any other engineering school of his choice? I mean it all comes down to his decision, but I do not see where he could go wrong going to MSU. IT WOULD NOT BE A DECISION HE WOULD REGRET I GUARANTEE THAT! Engineering at both those schools is TOP NOTCH!CatFamily wrote:Just got off the phone with my brother who talked to Larson. I spoke to a source in Cut Bank who confirmed this. Sign him up!CatFamily wrote:Just got off the phone with my brother who talked to Larson. Does a full ride at Tech include earplugs?CatFamily wrote:, but Green from Montana Tech realized Larson is interested in engineering and offered a full ride... just sign on the dotted line and is hot in the running.

Just kidding, think Green is a great guy, but I'd rather have the Larson kid at MSU.

Bob Green quotes louder than most people. And the guy has some great ones. I remember a few.
About his QB who broke his arm and came back, "He's as tough as a stucco bathtub."
After losing to Eastern Oregon, "Saying we didn't play well is like saying Dolly Parton is topheavy!"
At the beginning of a season, "We're going to play like the in-laws: come early, stay late."
I just thought I'd share some of the funnier ones. I hope Larson decides to become a Bobcat.

There was a huge article on Larson in the trib this morning. He sounds like a great kid. Here is a clip where it talks about his college decision.

If he's looking at ChemE, I don't think he has any other options than to go to MSU. Obviously not UM or Carroll, and I believe that tech has petroleum engineering, but not chemE.Both Montana and Montana State have expressed interest, but Jeff has no preference. "I've kind of grown up rooting for the team that was in the playoffs or doing well," he said.
"Football crews have been through here heavily. They've stopped and made offers," said Schilling, adding that UM, MSU, Carroll College and Montana Tech have been among the visitors.
"I'm being recruited by some schools who want me to play quarterback," Larson said. "I'm being patient and seeing what's going on. The recruiting coaches have been super nice. It's been really fun talking to them."
A 4.0 student and National Honor Society member, he would like to study chemical engineering in college.

I'd just say, "OK, I'll play T.E., but once I got to practice, I'd start flinging the ball over the place and bugging the coaches to give me a look." Actually he can do that 3-2 program at CC (Emmert is a civil engr. major, but CC doesn't have civil engr.) and I'm sure Tech has a lot of core classes being an engineering school, they might even have ChemE.
Obviously MSU is the best fit for ChemE.

MSU to my knowledge is the only school in the state with ChemE as a degree. Carroll has Civil Engineering and Tech has a ton of environmental engineering but no actual ChemE degree at either which bodes well for us. Larson seems like a great kid with a good head on his shoulders and would be an asset for any program. Let's hope the Cats do something soon to push themselves to the front for him. Whether he plays quarterback or something else, I think he can be a great leader on the field.

You can do a 3-2 program pretty much anywhere (even UM). Saying you have a 3-2 program is just a churched up way of saying "we don't have a chemical engineering program, but we want you to come here anyway". Carroll does have an ABET accredited civil engineering program, which is their only accredited engineering program on their campus, and I beleive MSU and Carroll are the only two schools in the state that offer an ABET accredited degree in Civil Engineering. (Tech only offers a general engineering degree w/ a civil engineering option)iaafan wrote:I'd just say, "OK, I'll play T.E., but once I got to practice, I'd start flinging the ball over the place and bugging the coaches to give me a look." I am certain that MSU offers the ONLY ABET accredited degree in chemical engineering in the state.
This should be a pretty easy decision for Mr. Larson.
not that anyone cares.....
Oh well, I'm dating myself, eh?
CC used to do that 3-2 thing for a lot of engr stuff. Whatever the case, it's out of my league.
A long time ago when I came out of high school, I was recruited by CC and they emphasized the 3-2 thing. However, I went to MSU. Jeff, it was the best choice I ever made!
