Is Bailey going to be in Bozeman in 2006? I haven't heard any word suggesting otherwise. Let’s take a vote:

The vote is only there for the bash Bailey sector. Not going to vote for this either way to provide any credence to the thought.

I refuse to vote because I don't want Durham fired. I don't want him to be the main man next year, either.

A demotion or a transfer to another position in the athletic department would be a better option, methinks.

I will say so far I am extremely dissapointed in the basketball team, whoevers fault it may be.

And what does this have to do with Bailey being fired? Just curious on where the connection is.

In all honesty, I think the mens basketball team could use an offensive coordinator.

More or less the same sentiments shared by BAC.

"Maybe not "fired," but perhaps "elevated" to an advisory role in the athletic department."

But we are talking about Don Bailey, not Durham. You want Bailey moved to another position?

On a side note, do you think Van Diest can coach hoops? :)

Honestly, I dont even know if Mick would be a good fit in an administrative roll in the athletic department. We need a go-getter, a big time fundraiser and energizer in the athletic department. Not another low-charisma guy who doesnt like to shake hands and hob-nob with the snooty-snoots.

Durham doesnt even like doing a coaches show, much less promoting his program in social events. How is he going to sweet talk some booster into dropping a $100,000 into the coffers. I just dont see this as a good fit for MSU or Mick Durham.

Whoops, this is a Bailey thread - damn you Celtic!

Bailey is earning his keep as OC. 3 years ago people didnt think he let Lulay improvise enough, this year we didnt run enough. I think Bailey is just fine. He may have his quirks, but I think he's doing a decent job - definitely not poor enough job to get fired.

Exactly .. very good point. Bailey has been changing the system to correlate with the type of offensive talent we have to work with. We had good receivers overall the past few years and we ran more of a spread. Before that we had a good running game and used that as our main strength. etc. He has shown a very good ability to mold the offense around it's strengths etc. This year I think we will definately be a more run oriented (balanced) team which you would expect the coordinator to use with some young studs at RB and a new QB/WR's at the helm.

I for one get a little tired of accepting mediocrity and underachieving. Our football team vastly underachieved, and it looks like our basketball team is about to have the same fate. I guess a portion of our fan base will never have desires of superiority in athletics. Change only happens when you demand it, not when you simply shrug and say, “There is always next year.”
