BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Montana State added talent to its front-court
Wednesday, signing Travis Derechowski of McMinnville, Ore., to a
National Letter-of-Intent. November 9 marked the first day this fall
student-athletes could sign with NCAA institutions for the 2006-07
academic year.
Derechowki turned in an outstanding junior season at Western
Mennonite School in Salem, Ore., last year. The 6-9, 235 lb post player
led the Eagles to the 2A State Tournament semifinals. He earned First
Team All-Tri-River Conference honors, First Team All-Region kudos from
the Salem Statesman Journal, and was Honorable Mention All-State. He was
second team all-conference as a sophomore, earning West Coast All-Star
Team honors that year.
"Travis is a big, strong, young kid who is only going to get
better," said MSU coach Mick Durham. "He runs very well for a big kid,
and shoots the ball well. Travis comes from a small school, but has
played against good competition on his AAU teams in the off-season.
Travis won't back down, he has a good competitive drive."
Western Mennonite coach Gary Hull lauds Derechowski. "Travis is
a coach's dream," said Hull, Oregon's 2005 2A Athletic Director of the
Year. "He has been the most incredible kid to work with. In the two
years I trained with him, he never once missed a practice. Montana State
is a good fit for Travis. He will have the opportunity to play and
continue to develop as a player."

Yep- MslaCat does a great job of keeping us up to date, but it's great he signed the LOI. BB program is looking good.bozbobcat wrote:This one was pretty expected. But it's a good one! He's 6'9" and probably still growing. MSU men's basketball looks to be in good shape for a very long time.

I have been told we will be signing him. Officially Durham and company can not announce anything until the L.O.I. is in hand. Sometimes they are some times it is a matter of how the recruit faxed or sent in the LOIgtapp wrote:What happened to the guard from oregon (Davis)? I thought we expected him to sign today!
