LARAMIE, Wyo. - Internet broadcasts of Wyoming games are no longer free, but fans paying a subscription fee will also be offered enhanced video highlights, coaches shows and other features.
"Every day our staff is coming up with new ideas to benefit Wyoming fans," athletic director Gary Barta said. "We have a long way to go, but I know we're making progress. With this effort, fans across Wyoming, the country and anywhere in the world can stay in touch with the Pokes like never before."
By logging on to http://www.wyomingathletics.com fans can subscribe to live audio broadcasts of games and coaches shows, video interviews with coaches and players, game highlights, event previews, news conferences and related events.
In the past, UW provided free online audio only, and no additional audio and video content that fans requested, Barta said.
The services will be provided through an exclusive two-year contract with Yahoo Broadcast. The fee was necessary to recover a portion of the costs, officials said.
The audio offerings are available for both broadband and dial-up users and feature radio broadcasts of UW football, men's basketball and women's basketball games.
There are two options: the School Pass for $4.95 a month and the College Pass for $9.95 per month.
The School Pass offers Wyoming live audio broadcasts and video features of all UW sports, as well as coaches shows and press conferences. The College Pass offers audio and video features for nearly 50 major colleges, including Wyoming.
Both options offer a one-week free trial.
Besides Wyoming, Mountain West Conference schools Colorado State, New Mexico, UNLV and Utah are among the institutions featured in Yahoo Sports College Pack.
Currently, six of eight MWC schools have switched from free to subscription online broadcasts.

Found this in the Billings Gazette this today. See the link below. How do you feel something like this would would go over with Cat fans, (or Griz fans for that matter). This type of thing would be directed directly at most of the people who visit this board on a regular basis would you pay for basically what you get for free now (and possibly a little bit more)?

Hopefully we can stick together at BobcatNation and find a way for us to offer the audio and video for free if/when MSU starts charging for it.
