This Carroll game was Binford's Humboldt State. I imagine the MSU-B game will be her Central Washington. May as well get them out of the way.

How about Manhattan Christian alum Amanda DeHaan? Does she have a chance to make an impact? I know she's a heck of an athlete. 11 points last night.

That said I feel pretty confident that if the Cats played them Mid season or later it would have been a much more compeditive game. I am not going to insult Carroll, but these two teams are in two completely phases of developement. Simply ignoring talent for a minute, the Cats are just so green on almost every level, the Carroll team is a pretty seasoned, and mature team. We are going to be so much better by mid season, if we can stay away from the injury bug. The women need confidence, and time on the court to work out the bugs. Hopefully Binford can keep the energy level high and not let these women get too caught up in the growing pains they are going to go through.
I agree that if State played Carroll in the middle of the season, it would be different, and probably more competitive, although I believe the Saints would still win. Carroll has the luxury of quality, talented players already established in a stable, winning program. State will certainly get better throughout the year, but I think the fruit of those efforts won't really come till next year. I like everything I've heard about Binford, and I'm sure she won't be asking the Saints back to Bozeman. Go Griz; Go Saints; Go State!

Yeah, Amanda was one of about 3 bright spots last night, along with Nubia Garcia and Jenny Heringer. She looked sharp and I have to say that I'm glad to see her (DeHaan) getting a chance to play, as she seemed to be glued onto the bench for most of last year. I also think she'll make an impact this year with playing time. Last year, Erin Goodman had a breakout game against Sac St. when she finally got to play. I think Amanda DeHaan is going to have a very good year.

P.S. The ex-Griz was Amy Brooks. She's a good player. Carroll had a lot of good players and they are one hell of a team.

GO CATS!
