I urge Cat fans to ignore this Tailboner dude. He is one of the more clueless of all of the sugar-coaters. One wonders why he would even try to post about athletics, since he has never set foot on an athletic field.
Lulay has got more guts and fire than any QB the Griz have had since Dickinson, and that includes Ochs. Edwards and Ah Yat. Ability is one thing, but having the WILL to win the game by taking it over, like Lulay does time and again, is a quality which is a rare as objectivity among the Griz sugar coaters.
Travis Lulay could go to battle with me any damned time. Some of these GRiz fans speak of Griz envy. Methinks some of them have "Travis envy"

HELL NO! Not to take away from Lulay as a very good quarterback (but of course not in the league of, say, Super Dave or Emmert), mind you, but CB looks mighty promising. Go State!tailbone wrote:NO.Catz Rock wrote:.......A simple YES or NO, would you trade CB for Travis Lulay? YES or NO?

I'll give you Dave Dickenson, I doubt the Big Sky will ever see the likes of him again.
But Emmert?! Are you serious? I don't want to take anything away from Tyler, lord knows he has earned it, but to lump an NAIA QB in with this group is just absurd. Travis would tear up the NAIA ranks, just as Craig Ochs and probably even Jason Washington would. This is not AT ALL a slam on Emmert, and I really enjoy watching him because he brings so many of the same intangibles that Travis does to the field, but you can't possibly compare NAIA with Division I-AA football. It's apples and oranges.

I didn't say that transfers are not, or cannot be recruited.tetoncat wrote:You don't think they recruit transfers. I guess all of our new receivers and Bass just decided to come to MSU because they were good. Give me a break. Edwards almost lost his job to your backup except money talks and he had a good team around him.
I stated that Ochs was not recruited.
Ochs contacted UM.
As for Lulay, I was in no way denigrating his quality as a QB.
Travis is a fine QB and would start for the Griz this year.
To suggest that TL wouldn't be, or isn't an exceptional QB would be ridiculous.
My comments were meant to imply that Lulay would have been more a victim of bad timing than substandard skills.
More directly:
Edwards was a National Championship QB, a Glen favorite (IMHO), and there may well have been political motives as well - No way TL starts while Edwards was a Griz.
Ochs was a top nationally rated QB out of high school, a 1A starter, and (IMHO) if not the very best i-aa QB last year, then at least 1 of the top 2.
My response to the question "would I trade?" was based (I think) on sound reasons and not (as some apparently assume) an anti-cat bias.

Edwards & Ochs would have both sat the bench if they came to MSU. Take that and stuff it up your furry little @$$

Tailbone,
Your right Ochs was a transfer. However, I dought the griz coaches at the time would have seen the need to bring him in if they had Disney and Lulay on the roster at the same time. With the talent those two have I really don't think Ochs (as good as he was) would have been needed as bad. With only 63 scholarships I don't think that Ochs would have been signed! Does this mean that Lulay is a better QB than Ochs? NO!!! I just don't think they would have taken a serious look at him. With Lulay and Disney at QB the griz would have been set at QB until 2006 (provided Lulay was redshirted). Thank what ever you want that Lulay ended up being a Cat, because I sure am!!! He is the reason I bought season tickets for the first time since 1998. And because of him I will renew because I have confidence that what has been built here will continue!
GO CATS!!

Do you actually know anything about football?
When people post things like this I wonder "why are they drinking in the middle of the day?"

Oh that's right, only know it all griz fans like yourself are capable of knowing anything about football. We are sick and tired of you griz fans coming over to our board to pontificate on how mediocre our quarterback is. Well Bullwinkle, you have worn out your welcome. Go back to your chest beating primates at egriz as I am sure they would love to hear how smart you are.
I can hardly wait until Cat/wiz game. Mr. Lulay will have you doning this

As a chest beating primate from eGriz, I'll have to say there are quite a few Cat "pontificators" over there also, and most of them are pretty good giving their Bobcat perspective on things that I enjoy reading.
Not sure I understand how tailbone has worn out his welcome here, though.
He's much smarter than me, and for the record...I'm also a back slapping, not that objective, Bobby Hauck supporting, sugar coating, spoiled, whiny, Griz fan that likes Karmer and Lulay, and supports the Bobcats when it doesn't effect the Griz.
