Right now, I'm not too high on our coaches' ability to recognize players who have what it takes to be a RB at the I-AA level. I think we may have a couple young kids who will finally pan out as good RB's (Groves and Taito), but to date I can't say I have been impressed at all with their ability to scout talent at the position.

"i personally want the best athlete on the field playing for the cats and i don't care where he is from...gt falls or mulholland (sp) falls (ca)...as long as the cats win...we have alway relied on out of state skill players and they have for the most part carried the program and probably always will...
if we get a great mt kid to play for us i think that's great but the fact is we don't have enough to go around for two good programs..."
Me too. That is my point couloir. I certainly don't take exception to the esteemed coaches opinion, I just don't think we want to miss this kid. I have the empression that if a kid comes from Colorado, Washington, or Cali we (coaches) think that they are going to outshine those we have here. Not always true.
I watched CMR play Sabino Az 5A--who were ranked top 5 nationally in 2001 win a game they should have lost to little ol 2A CMR. My point is simple-- yes-- more kids=more potential talent and a bigger pool to draw from. Obvious.
But whether coach m think Savage is the deal or not, just as Jack Johnson who has posted some numbers and seen the talent for 3 decades. He thinks there is talent to play at 1AA. Again 2000 yards at the 2A is no small achievement EVEN IF IT WAS A FLUKE

I still say we will be sorry if we choose to pass up on Savage.
Thanks to the others who thought of some of those names, those were the guys I was thinking of, particularly Dunn.
I AGREE! Kramer has not had one real good back since Johnson who he did not recruit and didn't like even a little.
