Yep, you really can't compare scores game to game. The ball bounced funny/turnovers/players have bad games etc. etc. We'll just have to see what happens the next few weeks as the Griz schedule gets a lot tougher. The next 3 weeks should put who are the contenders and who are the pretenders in conference in a clearer light.tetoncat wrote:who really cares about the Griz so far. If they lose to Idaho State it will finally give us a comparison on a head to head game. Comparing scores because we beat someone that beat a team they barely beat is wishful thinking. If that was the case we should be written off for the thumping that Cal Poly gave us.

The Griz will lose at Idaho State... unless Berquist does another "Lulay" feat as the new QB. But gotta be honest... although I sincerely hope it is the Bobcats time in the BCS and hope we can win it all, or at least make the playoffs... if we cannot than I hope the Griz can overcome the big loss the last game of the year and make the playoffs. As much as I am tired of not having the same success as the Friz, I am a Montana native. I am not worried about the Griz... more Weber State this weekend... then, you know... the "one game at a time" mindset!

As strange as this is, I think Cal Poly's loss to I-A Troy on the road really hurt them for some reason. Outside of that game, they've certainly been impressive and played a reasonably tough schedule.
In the eyes of the pollsters, I guess getting the crap kicked out of you by a BCS conference opponent is more "impressive" than getting soundly beat by a lesser conference I-A team. To me, getting blown out isn't a sign of strength in either case.
The Cal Poly game at Missoula should be an interesting one. The Griz might be able to take them, but only because it is at home. Home field seems to be a huge advantage for both of those teams, so I'm not sure how Cal Poly will do on the road against a tougher opponent (although they did beat SDSU on the road). I assume the Griz don't do home and home arrangements with Cal Poly -- I don't remember them playing down here for a long time.

The Griz were supposed to play down there last year. That is the game they bought out after the budget fiasco came to light so that they could have another money making home game instead.Bay Area Cat wrote: I assume the Griz don't do home and home arrangements with Cal Poly -- I don't remember them playing down here for a long time.

The pollsters might penalize Poly for their loss to Troy, but the committee can't.
The ONLY potential losses I see on Cal Poly's schedule are NDSU, EWU, and ISU.
If they win 2 of those 3, they're in. Even if they only win 1, they'll end the season 8-2 vs I-AA opponents and they will be in the post-season scrum.
Why isn't Poly in the Big Sky, Dougie? I would welcome them into the league, even if they have our # in recent years.
I would LOVE to see them come to Bozeman in December; anyone remember Arkansas State???

I think you are crazy, invite Cal Poly into the sky, that is unacceptable.
I would much rather help them to get fall mens soccer going or even a surfing team, instead of Football in the sky. Lets start getting donations and send them a few goals. The defense they run presently kind of looks like soccer with everybody dancing around all the time.

E I remember Alabama state but not Arkansas state. I also remember the O line from ASU deciding not to warm up, at Wash-Griz, during pregame becouse it was so cold. They decided to do warm ups in the locker room. I love warm weather teams in the cold.
