I don't remember who was considering an arguement to lower the drinking age but ya this story makes me think 18 yr olds are definately mature enough to handle themselves while drinking.

I wasn't there so I can only base my comment on the article, but it causes me to ask the question why did he run in the first place?

It probably has something to do with the August assault charge. Getting an MIP wouldn't exactly help his case and might possibly lead to his bail being revoked even prior to his second assault.

He probably thought he could flee and not be ID'd.

Luke Thomas Coder, 18, Bozeman: two counts of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, $560 fine/fees and alcohol/drug counseling for each offense; minor in possession of alcohol, $260 fine/fees, community service, Victim Impact Panel.

Bozeman Chronicle court report August 26th, 2005

I think this goes beyond the police simply looking for minors. Sometimes people get put on the radar due to their recent activities. I'm not saying this was the case for sure, but my guess is the police had an idea of who he was.

I think Mr. Coder has some issues here and the police are aware of them. I thought Luke had tried running from the police in the first case as well. But, I don't see anything about it in the report.
