Anyone else not care for the obsession with the griz score by the annoucer? I hate them as much as the next guy (or more) but more than 2-3 times is way too many. We don't want people to think we are obsessed with them. In fact now that I think about it I don't even want to be reminded of that other team.

And why is the annoucer trying to call our place the BIG HOUSE. I don't want to steal Michigan's stadium name! Lets try to be creative.

Great Game Experience Overall Though!!!!!!!!

In MSU's defense, one of the gripes that we passed along to them in our letter to Peter Fields (summarized from the thread for gameday experience) was that scores of other games weren't announced enough. Since the UM game was the only other BSC game going on, perhaps it just worked out that their score came up a lot as nobody else was playing.

I guess the test will be at the next home game, when other BSC schools are also playing more regular daytime games, and whether all scores are announced regularly, or just UM's.

It was perhaps not the number of times he did it as much as the way he did it. Always asking if we wanted to hear it and making it a big production. But he did do it alot and half the time the score didn't even change.

There was no mention of Idaho State and Kentuckys score.

I see ... yeah, that would be annoying, especially for a game that we all knew they would lose.

If it was a conference game ... then that would be a whole different story.

This guy sucks. Is it me or did he actually lose the little FB knowledge he had? What the heck is a 3 point conversion? Why couldn't he just say the FG attempt is good.

He messes up a lot with names. It was obvious he couldn't pronounce big Lou's last name, so just called him number 75 for the Cats. He needs to do his homework. On JD's first carry of the game, he called him Bass. Is this guy even watching the game or does he rely heavily on spotters? On one tackle out of bounds we had two guys on him. The announcer said "tackled by Fuller and...........Nick. WTF? He doesn't even know the players or the proper terminology. Know wonder Kramer wants to replace him.

And I agree with the too much emphasis on the griz game. He doesn't need to build it up. Just say the score like it was another college FB game.

We add over 13,000 fans show up. SWEET! We don't need any of them deciding to watch the next home game on TV because of the announcer.

Other mistakes: He said Audrey for Andre and at the last scrimmage of fall camp he said Gate something, but it wasn't even close to Gatewood.

My favorite call of the day was for "the Bozeman Bobcats". what a dumba$$.

I respect the fact that the school is trying to get it right though.

At least we don't have anybody doing radio that says things are "bush league" when things aren't going our way. The young man that utters that phrase is "bush league."

Sorry for the smack.

I will be taking the "young man" to whom you refer to task in the coming weeks.

Having heard just the final few minutes of "his" team's game yesterday sickened me; I intend to let "his" school and the Big Sky know that it's time for this unprofessional gentleman to take his act back to the stands where it belongs.

I agree the announcer was not the greatest but lets try to give him a little bit of a break. This was his first game for the cats, he has admitted that it has been about 2 years since the last time he has been to a game. Also lets not put too much on him, he has spotters that are also to blame. I am sure he will get better as the season goes on.

Give him a break? Why did he take the job if he isn't going to take it seriously? It wouldn't be too much to ask to get familiar with the home team's roster would it?

Bozeman Bobcats? I'm glad I can't hear him from where I sit.

He didn't say Bozeman Bobcats.

He said Bozeman Cats.

And I could've sworn he said ANDREA one time when Fuller made a play.

I really didn't care for his "FIIIIIIIIIIIIIRST DOWN" style, either.

Otherwise, I'm not going to offer an opinion; Gav knows why! So does Mr. Sanchez.

I also was disappointed with his first down call. I did like the way the previous guy built up to the "Bobcats" yell by the crowd. He did say Andrea Fuller. Gato, were you vying for the job? Because other than the good baritone voice he had, his style wasn't that fantastic. It was his first game though, so maybe he will improve for next game. I know many people were not a huge fan of his style, at least on the student side (yes there were enough non-intoxicated students to notice).

On a side note, not a lot of people were impressed by the new "Champ". He/she/it didn't receive a great ovation when he/she/it entered and many people including myself thought he/she/it looked more like a leopard than a bobcat. I hope that this turns out better than the new MSU logo that we spent a lot of money on. Any other thoughts?

I thought the new announcer was not very good. He finally got the first down (bobcats) thing right, but it took him till the end of the second quarter to get it right. He announced a field goal as an " extra.... (oops) Three point conversion!" Granted, it was probably his first time doing it, but still..... The "In the big house" thing he did was really cheesy also... He was also off on the spot of the ball about four times... announcing "at the 34" when it should have been the 39, and on the Toph Grenfell INT., he said he was down at the 5 when he was clearly pushed out at the 10 yard line. I know I am probably being too critical, but we obviously brought in two rookies to do the announcing and the music. I am wondering why that is (what happened to last years' announer - he was good). Hell, I'd do both if they would let me!!

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Why would we pick someone that had not been to a game in three years. There has to be someone in Film and TV that is looking to work on their announcing skills, and that has an interest in the Bobcats. Someone who has been going to the games and would have a little understanding of the team. otherwise this guy needs to do his homework and get in tune with the Cats.

Well then, I volunteer my services. I am a baritone who has a major interesting in broadcasting, lol. But seriously, that would be an awesome job, especially for someone who likes the sport as much as I do.
