Stephen F. Austin (1-0) at No. 16 Montana State (0-1), 3:05

Montana State might have made the biggest statement of the opening weekend even with a loss. By falling, 15-10, at Oklahoma State, the Bobcats moved up two spots in the rankings and showed they can play defense after slumping on that side of the ball at the end of 2004. Even though star wide receiver Rick Gatewood remains ineligible for two more games, we already know the Bobcats can score in bunches. Travis Lulay still has a talented cast at receiver and faces a Stephen F. Austin defense that allowed 24 points of its own in a 49-38 win against Division II Henderson State. The Lumberjacks could be a sleeper in the Southland, but the spotty performance in the opener shows they probably aren’t at Montana State’s level right now. Prediction: Montana State 35, Stephen F.Austin 21
