This is funny... check out his post on eGriz:

http://www.egriz.com/GrizBoard/viewtopic.php?t=4308

You're really trying hard to dig up bad news for the Bobcats there bb, but everything we are hearing is still pretty positive. You might want to read what Moss said about Lulay -- something about beating the Griz.

You really have to quit trying to prop up your personal disappointments by putting down MSU. It's just not working for you. You're not very good at that, either.

On a serious note, it look like the Big Sky is the expected hot bed for QB's in I-AA this season. Should be interesting... I hope our secondary gels early in the season.

Thanks for posting this BearBac, as I was just going to do the same. You really are turning into a very positive source of information for the Cats.

There is no doubt that Lulay didn't perform as well last year as he did his freshman year, but then he didn't have near the talent at WR or RB to play with either. I would definately rank Murrietta and Meyer ahead of him following the 2003 season. I still think Ochs is riding his I-A transfer credentials as he just didn't show that much last year so I wouldn't rank him as high, but he is still up there. The thing that I love about Lulay, as the EWU coach said, is he is a player and it just seems that he finds a way to win the big games when they need it. Hopefully the spring improvement in WR will go a long way to helping Lulay improve even further.

Moss says "In any event, ‘Cat fans will likely take Big Sky titles, postseason trips, and wins against hated Montana over lusty numbers any day of the week, and Lulay looks primed to deliver more of the same during his junior year.

Yeah, I'm pissed! Thanks for another fabulous cut/paste.

Murietta simply won't have the numbers this year that he had last year because Moore and Morton are gone. I didn't like the way he closed out last season with a complete meltdown against Florida A&T&I&M or whatever - oh ya, Atlantic.

Ochs hasn't shown anybody anything since he started at CU - those are just the facts. If he stays healthy AND if the I-A transfer receivers can learn the offense this year, Ochs might be able to salvage a college career...who knows. I wouldn't count on it.

Meyer would be my pick for #1 in the Big Sky.

I can't believe he left out Leadingham from Sac State. I would either put Travis or him at #2. Leadingham is definitely in the top 10 of I-AA.

Obviously Moss was just looking at the 2003 stats and adding some subjective fluff to it in order to make his list.

i would say that muriettas numbers might be down a bit..he took some hits on the o-line and lost his two best recievers. i have heard the top reciever from asu or ua did transfer to nau though. very similar to what happened with travis from his freshman to soph season..losing jr and having aaron not show up hurt his numbers.

just my thoughts

My thoughts on Lulay. He may not be the most talented or gifted QB in the conference, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better leader, bigger heart, more desire to win, and CLUTCH QB in the conference. With Travis Lulay at the helm in the last 2 minutes of the game, I like the Cats chances.

This may ruffle some feathers, but I wouldnt trade his leadership abilities and penchant for making the big play in the clutch for another QB's pure talent in the I-AA country!

The NAU game is a perfect example of this type of leadership, desire to win, ability to lift the team on his shoulders and carry them to victory. And that was demonstrated by a sophomore on a senior laden defensive football team.

Exactly my thoughts Pride. Moss sums it up well regarding the intangibles(sp?) of Lulay. I know he was a solid winner after his first game against Idaho State. After watching what he did last year against NAU, all doubts were completely erased about his ability to lead the team to the promised land. Mark my words - if he stays healthy, his numbers will be huge this year...

I couldn't agree more with you guys.

Just to make it clear - If given the option, I would not trade Travis for anybody in the conference. He's a proven winner and fizz killer. Who cares what the stats and Tony Moss say.

I hope I'm wrong about Meyer from EWU but after watching Spring ball, I'm concerned about Meyer living up to/surpassing last years success. Losing the two great recievers will be harder to replace than expected. Meyer threw more int's in Spring than the two QB's did all last year. One expected reciever to make an impact severly fractured his arm at the end of spring and had to be plated and screwed, future unclear. Meyer will still be a force as our running game will be vastly improved which should work in his favor. Just being honest Bobcat fans and as I said, "I hope I'm wrong".

I wouldn't sweat it if I were you. Didn't see him play alot, but the two games I watched he looked like the real deal to me. How are your backups?

Last years other, "co-starter," has moved to WR(one with the fractured arm). He was as good as Meyer. The backup this year will be a RS Freshman who is suppose to be better the best of the lot...
