Mods - I like the header you placed at the top of the board to remember Big Al...very classy and it shows that regardless of our many indifferences on this board we do all come together to pay tribute to those who have represented our school and our athletics with pride and dignity!

THANKS!!!

Once an Eagle...now a Bobcat...at least I was never a Grizzly.

As everyone else has said, very sad. The team did wear black bars on the shoulder of their uniforms tonight, and several players had personalized memorials in the form of marker on taped ankles, etc.

Wow guys. I've been out of town for a week and the first news I heard of this was seeing your "In Memory" thing up there. I am absolutely stunned. I remember a story on him before the Griz-Cat basketball game in (I think) early 2005. I was pretty impressed with him and he seemed like an all around lovable guy on campus.

RIP Al Beye
Sorry Bobcat Nation for your tragic loss.

I got know Al over this semester and the news was absolutly heartbreaking. He is an amazing person and athlete. Everyone looked up to Al, not because of his height, but because of his heart and personality. I will never forget his smile or the first time I saw him dunk the ball. Rest in peace Big Al.

From the chronicle:

"In Beye's honor, MSU observed a moment of silence before Saturday night's game against Utah Valley State. The men's and women's teams will wear "55" patches - Beye's number - on their uniforms the remainder of the season."
