I read that a cold air mass might get here Friday night from Canada and it will get much colder if the air mass arrives. Not Montana cold but maybe highs in the low 30s and lows in the teens. For what it is worth the weather in Boone can change every 15 minutes and the wind chill can be very biting in the winter months.

Can you imagine that... they get hit with an arctic blast that brings snow? 8)

Not to dissappoint, but we can handle the temperature and yes, we get snow in Boone. In fact I have seen it snow in Boone every month of the year except July and August. We even have snow slopes open not more than a few miles from campus. I am not a big snow skier, but the ASU Club snow skiing team is quite good.

And we can also play in thin air, as we are 3,333 ft up in Boone.

The Appalachian Mountains are not the Rockies, but we do get winter in Boone, and can play football in that weather also.

Though it looks like the cold air may not get here. It may be a little on the warm side, and we can play in the heat also.

I can attest to the Carolina cold. Though I was raised in the Gallatin Valley around Bozeman, the coldest winter of my life was right after I graduated from college and went to Infantry Officer Basic Course at Ft. Benning and then Ranger School in beautiful Camp Dahlonega among other locations. During one of my reserve assignments, my battalion headquarters was in Hickory and the division headquarters in Charlotte--COLD and HUMID unless we were working out and then it felt pretty good! I like to think both teams will be well suited, however, to the weather and relatively the same elevation. Just as last weekend didn't seem to bother FU in Bozo, I doubt if it'll have any impact on our kids.

Wish I could be there but look forward to watching speed on speed and some good, hard hitting football on ESPN 2. Should be a great game.

And oh yeah, the Appalachians can definitely kick your rear as far as mountains  I'd like to think our new Mountain Men will handle the older mountain men--Jim Bridger or Liver Eating Johnson come to mind

...in fact, even our own John Colter would have stood his ground and fought instead of going for a swim.

I think the wind was the biggest factor in the game Saturday against Furman. We have the windiest stadium I have ever been in and our team seems to know how to play in it. It's a real game of wits to know when to kickoff or receive and when to throw and when to run depending on the wind direction and strength. It can also be a weapon when kicking off into it.

You're correct. I also think they finally understood how the slope of the field affects their routes and their timing. They've got to quit practicing on that flat field exclusively and spend some time in the stadium or they'll continue to have those aggravating penalties.

I'm sure you do, no they aren't (the Rockies), and yes you can. Anything else you would like to justify about NC weather, geography, and your obvious ability to win at home? No... covered it all?

Wind won't be a factor this time. The wind in Boone can be God-awful. For the ASU/Furman game this year, it must have been a constant 30mph with gusts even higher. He11, Boone's only a few miles from a place called Blowing Rock.

And, to be honest, nothing makes me happier than elevation, field conditions, temperature and wind NOT being a factor. Basically, two teams strap it on and find out who's better. No excuses once it's over.

You're right - I'm sure the weather won't play much of a factor, but our team is probably more used to playing football in cold, wintery weather than your team. Sure - you may get a snowstorm every now and then but you cannot compare Bozeman to Boone as far as winter weather. It was 35 degrees below zero this morning (wind chill) in Great Falls... don't imagine it was much warmer in Bozeman.

Boone averages 56 inches the snowfall and Bozman 73 the difference between 4 1/2 ft and 6 ft over the course of a winter season is not that extra orrdinary catatac. The biggest differance is it usually warms just enough in Boone to melt it off before the next round of white stuff.

BTW you CAN compare winter weather in Bozeman Vs Boone. Or Bozeman Vs Cancun Vs Hawaii Vs Antartica. :D But after you do a comparison you can only CONCLUDE that Bozeman does win the colder snowier cookie award than Boone.      :D :D

Our cold and snowy weather experience comes moreso in the spring practices than in the fall. We typically get a heavy dose of snow then, and it usually screws up many a spring game and practice schedule.

Is the snow in Boone in the Mountains around it, or is the 56 inches in downtown and much higher in the mountains around it?

Save the earth. It's the only planet with chocolate.
