The spark becomes an Inferno

Post by liqud360 » Sun Nov 26, 2006 5:00 am

I've got to hand it to Bobcat Nation. From a small spark of getting the word out about wearing gold, finding police escorts, buying tickets, scream your damn lungs out, and all the little extras. To the INFERNO of a crowd gone absolutly ape s**t, the local paper writing about gold in the stands, the MSU law enforcement doing what they could, 9000+ tickets sold. And our players, our champion bobcat players finally feeling like all of their hard work had finally been noticed and appreciated by the fans. I read that Force made mention that the team was amazed at how loud the crowd was, even Kramer made comments that sounded like a proud papa.

Bobcat Nation had a hand in this, what a response, I think that is something we can all be proud of whether we were there at the game or not. I'm proud to be an MSU Alumni and part of Bobcat Nation.

Boy it seemed, and Kramer even commented about it, that there were more than 9,500 people. there, I do not know where you would put the other 3,500 to get to our capacity or 4,500 that are at cat griz, I know we get some in the standing room on the corners but the boxes were full, the alumni side near capacity, student side had people in all sections. The only part with apparent open seats was the end zone. Is there a difference between seats sold and actual attendance.

I thought it was a great atmoshpere and definitely worth the drive down on crappy roads. What a great day as the weather held off.

Outside of a Cat/Griz game, that was the loudest crowd I have ever heard in Bobcat Stadium, and I've been going to games for almost twenty years now! And it never really quieted down - the fans were extremely vocal to the final gun. I saw Kramer pointing to the stands after Furman had to take an early time-out because they couldn't hear. FANTASTIC EFFORT! Now if only I could say the same thing about our fans today at the b-ball game

You bring up an interesting point. If Furman had to take an early time out because they couldnt hear the audible, then, Well the point I'm trying to make here and cant seem to get out is that our stadium is loud. The griz talk about the architecture of their stadium being the reason, but ours with half the crowd amount seemed to do the same thing. I guess people just need to start showing up and yelling, and bobcat stadium can have just as much of an impact as a multi-billion dollar complex.

There have been several times over the past couple of seasons where opposing coaches and players have commented on our tough crowd noise. Last season the QB for NDSU said that here and Wa/Gr were the only places they've had crowd noise problems. I'm sure the fargobarn gets loud in it's own right, too.
