Yea air griz, I am sure the field staff has already watched hours of film to determine where the Furman team likes to run. We will then be deliberately making that part of the field muddy and slick while cleaning and drying the areas that the Cats will use. Of course their side will be 6 inches deep in slop with no heaters and our side will be cleaned, dry and probably with new sprin turf to make sure no one gets wet at all. On top of this the officials will only allow the teams to use the designated spots on the field to assure the work of the field staff is maintained in its proper order.

O.K. What's your point? Look at the picture at the beginning of this thread. Did they ever think of covering the damn thing like UM did when it used to have grass field. Hello. That's a no brainer.tetoncat wrote:Yea air griz, I am sure the field staff has already watched hours of film to determine where the Furman team likes to run. Gee Teton your hurting my feelings. Why don't you go back to the all-conference thread. There, you might see something you would perceive as constructive. On that thread, I commented that I couldn't believe the Griz had any lineman on the 1st Team. Most Cat fans on that thread felt the same way.tetoncat wrote:My point is that you have had nothing constructive to say on any of your posts, just condensending comments slamming anything about the bobcats. Go back to your own site it you can't contribute.
You see Teton. The only things you find constructive are positive things about the Cats and negative things about the Griz. You don't see anything constructive if someone posts something POSITIVE about the Griz. I don't need to slam the Cats to make the Griz look good. All I need to do is talk about the Griz.
My point on this thread is that it is the responsibility of the host institution to provide the best possible playing field. Is it not fair debate to ponder why the damn field is not covered.

I could be wrong, but didn't Read used to do plenty to make sure the field was as much a part of Homefield advantage as possible?
I've heard long grass for fast teams, muddy fields more then a time or two etc.
If I'm wrong on this, I'll apologize and retract my statement. I think it's interesting, however, for a Griz fan to come on and chastise us for not covering the field. Even NFL fields aren't covered. Part of football is to play in what nature throws at ya.

Bobby Lamb was on our local sports talk program last night. He said the field was in much better condition than he anticipated and that it should not be an issue today. He expected nothing but dirt on the field. He said there was much more grass than he anticipated and that the football was real good. As a side note you will see our guys on the sideline with black parka's on . USC was kind enough to let us borrow them for the game today. Because of that kind gesture, I will pull for USC against Clemson today.

In typical Montana weather style, it's expected to be 34 and there is barely any snow left to speak of.
I was really hoping to be freezing my bits off today so Furman got exposed to real Montana Novembers. Oh well.
Go Cats!!

But, to set the record straight, Read never did such a thing. In fact, Montana invested over $50,000 to purchase a field cover to keep the field covered during inclimate weather in the late season. The field may have deteriorated during the game, but the point is that you do everything possible to keep the field dry and playable. Enough.
