Offense???

What has to happen with your offense to make a run at Furman? It seems like you rarely put up more than 200 yards of total offense. Will Kramer change the playcalling? Will Bailey? Best of luck this weekend to all teams playing in the State of Montana!

That's my big concern. We've gotten steadily worse on offense since the second half of the Sac State game.

If we go shotgun on third and one again I think I might lose it.

1) We need to work on getting some first down to try and improve our starting position over the course of the game.

2) We need to see better play from the QB position. We've had receivers open in several games and the ball is not getting to them.

3) We need the receivers to expecting to get "popped" and still catch the ball.

4) We need our RB's to run "tougher". Making people miss in the open field, and breaking tackles by refusing to go down and keeping their legs moving.

5) Keep a commitment to the run

6) If Fuhrman has a fast "D", typically these kinds will tend to over pursue. So, we need to utilize playcalling that exposes this as a weakness.

7) Get an attitude and go out and get after it.

Defense is a " NOT In MY HOUSE" attitude-- and offense is a " YOU can't stop me" attitude. Do we have it? can we get? It has to be in the QB's head and heart and the rest of the team will follow. Rolovich had it early, but he seems to have lost it lately. Why? Rolovich has the skills and the pysche. He can't be afraid to lose otherwise he won't win. ALA Favre! Sling it and win it.

your joking right?? Have you not noticed the number of droped balls over the last few weeks expecially jefferson and our tight ends? ****** weaton was the mvp of the griz game for the drop ball in the zone in the 4th

Furman's defense is not really "fast." They are disciplined, big up front, good corps of linebackers, and very hard hitting.

linebackers are a quick group, corner backs small but good in coverage, safety's will both knock your cleats off, and the defensive front anchors the best run defense in the SoCon. Defense revolves around MLB Andrew Jones.

Yep - my wife pointed that out, as I was at the game and she watched on TV. I thought he had a clean shot at it but no - once again, props to the Griz, they made the plays they needed to...

Right. The reason we stope the run so well is we are more big up front than fast. Case in point - our MLB from a few years ago is still in the pros (Orlando Ruff) after starting for a few years as a third-down run stopper. 6'3 245 type guy. Our LBs are bigger but not as good in coverage than most teams. We would much rather face a tough running team than a throw-it-all-over-the-field team. If you look at our two-deep our LBs average a little bigger than I usually see in 1aa as they go about 220/230. Most teams seem to have some a tthat size and a 205 guy or two. We don't get good pressure on the Qb but we clog running lanes. I fear your QB will have a lot of time to throw.

I think he floated the ball early on a the Griz DB's took adavantage of it. The recievers missed some balls but they weren't all good thows. The problem was the running game. The coaches abandoned it way to early. Mason had 10 carries for 46 yards until he got stripped and then they went away from it. You can't expect to run seems and slants when the linebackes are dropping because they don't respect the run. Get the running game going and the rest will follow.

As was pointed out on another thread, the O appears to be headed toward more of run oriented strategy by employing the spread option. Our biggest games in terms of rushing and TOP are when we use the spread option.

I love Rolo at quaterback and hope he plays this weekend, but in the second half of the Griz game he was constatly throwing off his back leg which casued him to float some passes. probaly had to do with the hits he was taking and maybe his injury.

I'm guessing Rolo and the coaches get this addressed and he will tear up the playoffs. Get healthy soon Rolo

My thought exactly. In fact I think we'll probably go with a two WR set and use "Night Train" Lane at fullback..he physical and can run a 4.45.

I think some of the boys are having fun with you. I don't think I'm giving away any secrets when I say that we usually run a 3 receiver set with 1 back. But you never know what Kramer might pull out..........
