4. How long should a field last?
A good field can last 15 years or more depending on use and abuse. One thing is for sure - a field is only as good as its components. Only four components make up an infill turf field - the fiber, the primary backing, the secondary backing and the infill. The better the components - the better the field is. Some manufacturers sacrifice quality on the four important components for a fifth - big time Madison Avenue advertising and endorsements. Sprinturf puts its dollars into the product
The fields down here are
Bottom/up
Small Chrushed rock- pea sized.
Liner
Rubber/Tire dust
then the turf.

We are putting in Field Turf in our HS stadium. We figured it cost about $30 k a year to water mow strip and fertilize a grass field. Field Turf's warranty has just been bumped to 10 years so that is a huge savings. When it needs to be replaced it is only the top that has to come up not the entire base. For about $400 K. The field can also be used for concerts, graduations, hs games, band competitions etc. Schools we talked to in Texas even had tractor pulls on their fields. We're even thinking about putting ice on ours and having outdoor hockey games. Hockey is huge here and our stadium seats 8000. When it goes in were having a Labor Day kickoff weekend with 4 hs games in one weekend. Think of the additional revenue it could produce. JMHO

Can we get it in Bobcat blue and gold ala the BSU blue field?
Silly idea, but it's been great for Boise State's marketing.

I know, but it's been a pretty good marketing gimmick.
