Any coach that goes undefeated in the BSC deserves coach of the year.
When in doubt, make broad, false generalizations about Cats fans.
Look at my sig, then realize I still voted for him.

Exactly. If we win out we will have taken a 5th ranked BSC team in the preseason polls and won the Big Sky Conference. To be BSC coach of the year you need to look at the Big Sky games in my opinion as the other non conference games are so varied. Plus we took down Colorado to boot and put MSU's/BIG SKY conference name all over the national media. If we win out after losing our first Big Sky Conference game at home and get the autobid that is GREAT Coaching and mentoring of the players.

Will someone please show me where we were picked 5th in the preseason polls? Oh I get it now - 3rd in the coaches and 2nd in the media adds up to 5th.

I actually didn't see them, was going what he said above

I guess don't believe everything you read

I thought we were 3rd or 4th though. Neither the coaches or media are going to have it right again this year though

That is what I was afraid was happening Cardiac. People would just assume what a couple of posters were writing as fact when it was way off from the truth. Here is the link again, looks like the Media was closer than the Coaches.

This is a very tough call. Weber has had a lot of adversity this year and are playing a pretty good brand of football.
PSU has done some pretty great things, but couldn't pull it all together.
No on EWU and ISU's coaches this year.
No on UNC, even though they have faced all kinds of adversity, and with a new coach at that.
NAU? Tough call there, but probably no on Jerome. Though I think he's done a pretty good job.
MSU had a great win over Colorado, a great win! But then had a 3 game skid that was not pretty at all. However, Kramer rallied the troups and now the Cats are going to be either 1st or 2nd in the BSC.
UM has only lost one game, but has yet to loose to a I-AA opponent. They are playing some great D, but the O is sputtering, even with a good amount of talent.
Honestly, no coach really stands out. I don't think I'd give out the award this year, but given the measurables, I would have to give it to Hauck right now. Even with a aneamic O, they have still found a way to win every game but one.
However, I think the coach of the winner of the cat/Griz game should get and probably will be the coach of the year.
So I didn't cast a vote.

I know this will be taken as smack, but how can anyone vote for a coach that lost 3 games in a row to teams they should have beaten?
I know this is bobcat nation but atleast try to be unbiased sometimes!!!!
Chadron, UC Davis and EWU????

Initially I felt Walsh has done an exceptional job at PSU... and still think going into the last game at Sac St. he has. I also think Mooshagian has really turned it around this year at Sat St. and created at lot of buzz in the BSC. So I think the winner of that game this weekend is the choice for Coach of the Year.
Krames and Baby Hauck... well Krames has had the best coaching year of the two for sure... more adversity overcome... but the Walsh and Mooshagian are more deserving this year I think!
Montana State Fighting Bobcats reign supreme

Actually, Walsh is going to get my vote, come to think of it. They lost some pretty significant players and had the toughest schedule in the BSC. They only lost to very tough teams, and have a I-A win.

We'll have to go back to the August posts but I think 1. Griz 2. ISU, 3. EWU, 4 Cats or PSU, 5 PSU or Cats etc

Not that I really care or that it matters but.....
The link I posted shows the polls were dated July of 2006. I am not sure what other preseason polls you are referring to. I don't ever remember us being picked in the range of 5th.

this was a long time ago. however, when I did my Big Sky Football projections in late July I can remember a poll (might be Daugherty) that had MSU 4th or 5th. He had UM, ISU, EWU 1-2-3 I think then PSU then MSU.

I would have to give it to the coach who wins the Cat/Griz game. Honestly, I have a hard time giving it to Kramer due to the 3 game skid- especially losing to Chadron and Eastern. If I had to cast a vote today I would choose Bobby, but I will hold off until November 18th to place my vote.

Hard to, but the team, in spite of those 3 losses, has over-achieved.
I can't vote for Hauck simply because his team met expectations, and he had the best players going into the year...How hard was that, for him, to end up at the top of the conference this year? I don't think it was that hard. He did have to deal with more transfers this year than normal, though. And, the boo-birds have been out in full force at W/G. There's something to be said for dealing with that and still winning, probably.
Walsh is still the COY in my book...I think the choice is obvious.
Montana State IS what "they" think Montana is.

I don't think "overcoming adversity" and "just meeting expectations" are high on the criteria list for deciding COY. If so, UNC would win hands down because of all their crime, weirdness and tragedy. As far as expectations, yeah the Griz are expected to win the conference every year by either the coaches and/or media. It is because they consistently do win it all or share in winning it all in the BSC. The same could be said for the expectations for Miami or Florida State but what kind of year are they having? The Griz are unprecedented in consistently being at the top of the conference at their level of play (I-AA). Nine straight Champs or co-Champs, 21 straight winning seasons, and 14 straight playoff appearances are just 3 pieces of evidence.
Just saying I don't think anyone should automatically dismiss BH just because the expectations are always high. Yes they are always high, because they always win way more than anyone else and way more than they ever lose.
Yes the program has momentum and yes we have the best home-field advantage/best stadium in I-AA but the coaches/staff/team still have to play the games and the results are undeniable for BH and The Griz.
My $.02

Sure hope the Griz aren't looking past UNC this weekend.

Will be very interesting to see that matchup. They played with a lot of heart against us and didn't look that bad. They're D isn't too bad.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!
