NDSU game

SOOOOO, you have scheduled a DII team in our place and bought out the game that was supposed to be played in FARGO. I personally hope that MSU gets their ass handed to them on a rusty platter and more when you travel to the "12th Man" and play a DII school instead of North Dakota St. It is already tough to schedule anybody while in the Great West, but then when teams you have already played at THEIR HOME FIELD buy out their contract, that really puts the icing on the cake! :hot:
All Montana schools are just the same. Great school you have up there.

Get over it! With the addition of Northern Colorado, Big Sky teams have 4 conference games at home and 4 on the road. MSU is commited to 6 home games a year which leaves one OOC road game which is a money game- this year it's Texas A&M. The only chance the 'Cats might have gone to NDSU is if the NCAA vote allowed a 12th game, which was voted down. With only 5 teams in the Great West you have a lot more scheduling options than the BSC does.

BTW, I personally wish the hell we could've played you this year- I know a lot of fans were planning on the road trip.

And dont worry. We were REALLY planning on MSU to come to the FFD. So what about the DII team that you scheduled instead of NDSU on the same date that the game would have been?

Take the buy-out that MSU paid and get a home game for free!

The security that comes with a binding contract.

Welcome to the big-boy league NDSUFREAK. I know it sucks you didn't get to play MSU at home but you better get used to these situations. It happens. If the Bison wound up in the same situation as the Cats your AD would be a fool not act accordingly.

I'm sorry, but there is one "big boy" league and neither the Cats nor the Bison play in it. Division One playoff league is a very good league, but not THE big boy league.

It's a shame NDSU did not get to compete in the playoffs this year. I know rules are rules, but who knows what could have been.

A contract doesn't seem to mean too much in sports these days. Coaches up and leave whenever they want. In a strange way MSU did keep their word, as the whole point of having a buyout clause is the potential of a buyout. Whether or not they chickened out because Fargo is a toooough place to win, well that is neither here nor there.

Fair enough. I still think MSU made the right call by going to Texas A&M and scheduling another OOC at home to guarantee 6 home games. It's what happens at the D-I level.

NDSU Freak,

I get the feeling you think we are ducking you. Since we bought out your game for the A&M money game, we had to try and fill a different void on our schedule. So no, we did not cancel your game for a DII. I am sure we would have played you here on a different weekend if schedules allowed, but in no way is MSU going to play 6 road games and 5 home games in a given year. Sorry, but that's reality.

NDSUFREAK,
Instead of complaining to us about taking legal option put into the contract, why don't you call Taylor and have him write the contract without a buyout. See how many takers he gets.

Taylor, Gene Director of Athletics (701) 231-8985

I don't know what your business it but if you had a legal option to take that would make your company ten's if not hundreds of thousands of dollars, and it would only cost you $10,000, you, me, and the rest of the free world would do it. NDSU is quickly becoming a major player in 1-AA(I know its Playoff Series, but thats dumb) and with that NDSU will want 6 home games, which means NDSU will be buying out home and homes also.

I am sure we will play at NDSU soon enough, if you keep playing the way you are we will be visiting you in the semi-finals for a trip to Tennessee

NDSU would play both, have 5 home games and then our AD probably would have asked MSU if they want to do another home and home.

If your fans were asking for and expecting 6 home games every year you WOULD NOT just play 5 home games and say sorry fans. You would find a way to get 6 games at home, maybe play that home and home you signed for in the future and if all else failed you would pay the buyout.

He wanted to know what NDSU would do and I can say for sure NDSU wouldn't drop a I-AA for a DII team to get a 6th home game. Our AD is very against playing DII teams and we won't schedule anymore when we become playoff eligable.

NDSU fans want 6 home games and so does the AD but we also want to play good non-conference competition. If that means having only 5 home games some years then so be it, the AD isn't going to get burned at the stake if he puts togather a good schedule. Honestly, if NDSU dropped MSU to play a DII to get a 6th home game I wouldn't be happy at all. Playing DIIs do nothing for the program and generate ZERO excitement from the fanbase. DII games are a lose-lose situation and I'm glad our AD has figured that out.

The MSU would have been a def. sell out at the FFD. That is what is so huge about it. Now we are talking of scheduling our rival that refused us and begged us right after that to play us.
Our AD has something called trusting people. To have no trustworthyness is a big obstacle.
I went to the 5 home games that we had and they was the best season the FFD had. 5 GAMES. Then to be REALLY excited for next season at getting 6 games we find out about this. It really does suck. There is still too much of a bad taste in my mouth from the last time we went to Bozeman.

NDSU Guys...I think you are blaming us for something that we really didn't have any control over. I wish we'd play you guys in the great FFD too, however, not at the expense of a home game and especially not at the expense of a money game. Even if the money game is a laugher (and by the way, neither of the last 2 were, in fact we won 1 and should have one the other) I'd rather have the national coverage and give our players a taste of a huge crowd so that later in the season that doesn't bother them. Both things happened this year. After CU, crowd noise didn't do anything to us...and when we beat them, national coverage.

You guys also have the benefit of a larger non-conference schedule. From the last weekend in Sept, we are all conf games. Its gotta work out for us to play most 1 AA teams OOC.

If you want to blame somebody for this...call the Big Sky commish, who decided for a couple of poor programs instead of the Dakota teams. Otherwise, vent elsewhere. We'll take the 12th man and add on to our stadium...

:goodpost: Especially the last paragraph. I have said it before, and I'll say it again. Doug Fullerton is a fool, and I am beginning to really dislike the way this conference is being run.

I was all for the game. Would be a great QUALITY win we could put on our record for next year :)
