You can't really be surprised by this. Every time I go to Bozo it has the feel of being a boring town that lacks energy. This is a common perception that I hear often. I like the look of the town but the atmosphere sucks. Sort of unfriendly.............

I guess I posted in the wrong thread sorry.

Oh yeah, well everytime I go to Missoula....

Wait a minute.

My bad. #-o

I never waste my time by going to that place.

Ohhhhh the irony.

The atmosphere in Bozeman is a helluva lot clearer than the atmosphere in Missoula this time of year.

Bozeman obviously has the edge as far as skiing goes, but other than that, I don't think you have much of a case. On the other hand, anywhere in western Montana isn't a bad place to be

I have lived in both Missoula and Bozeman, and the atmosphere does not suck in Bozeman. We have a fun night life. We have a lot of festivals that draw very well (ever been to Sweet Pea or Hatchfest?). Downtown Bozeman is thriving, we have a lot of good restaurants.

You are the first person to call Bozeman boring and lackluster that I have ever heard in my 19 years in Montana.

Fishing is good in Missoula but much better around Bozeman.
But this part of this thread should be moved huh.

This thread has nothing to do with Griz Fans, but I gave it that name as it is related to the other thread "Griz Fans" discussing which town is better. With the new board software we will be able to merge topics, but I don't have that power yet.

I know this has been covered pretty well in another thread by here's my two cents....

Bozeman has Missoula out-classed when it comes to fishing and skiing and lack of hippies and trustafarians.

But as far as restaurants and nightlife are concerned I gotta go with Missoula. It's probably a direct result of a bigger population but Missoula does seem to have an edge when it comes to choices. Except when it comes to Italian food. Missoula doesn't have squat in that department. But by and large Missoula has more to offer for different cuisines and cultural activities.

Not to mention a lot of Pearl Jam shows and a Rolling Stones concert!

Pearl Jam is terrible. And the 'Stones are way too old to be doing anything anymore.

Are you writing from the year 1979? Bozeman almost seems more like a jazz town these days than anything ... and that's a very good thing.

And I remember Pearl Jam playing at the Bozeman fairgrounds back in the early nineties as well.

I wouldn't see the Rolling Stones if you payed me. Why? Because I know CPR, and the chances of one of those guys trying to die on stage is pretty good, and I wouldn't want to have to give them mouth-mouth.

Although I wasn't at the show I heard they still get around pretty good for their age.

I wouldn't pay to see the Stones, either ... but you have to admit, getting them to play in MT was a pretty cool thing ... and hopefully something that brings more bands into the region.

That said, Bozeman has been bringing in some great bands over the last couple years, and people in Missoula were actually bitching about how much better the Bozeman music scene was than the Missoula scene during that time.

Fact is ... both scenes suck compared to bigger markets (getting one concert every couple months doesn't compare to the options in larger areas), so Bozeman and Missoula, rather than slamming each other, should instead be hoping the each city continues to attract more acts ... and maybe even look at each other as complementary components of the same general music market. That way, maybe both will end up getting more bands to come to town, and people in both towns can take advantage of seeing some great live music by traveling to both.

It always seem bizarre to me that the Cat/Griz rivalry starts extending to hating the towns that both schools are in. Both cities are very cool places, and I hope both continue to get more and more of all of the good things to make them even better.

I suppose it was pretty cool, not many shows get 22,000+ in MT.
But I'm not sure Bozeman has had a bunch of 'great bands' lately.

A crooked senator who yells at firefighters is the lesser of two evils? I think not

Not to pull this thread even further down, but yeah, doesn't our choice of Senatorial candidates make you sick?

One's an obvious crook who's sold his vote on numerous occassions.

The other is a guy who, along with his buddy Gov. Scheister, brags about "balancing the budget" (ignoring the fact that the legislature HAS TO do so every session, by law) and also brags about the fact that the good State of Montana government has $500,000,000 OF OUR MONEY sitting in the state's bank account!

Only a liberal would take pride in the fact that his government has STOLEN money from people at such a rate that they have built a half-a-billion dollar surplus!! Anyone ever hear Mr. Tester or Gov. Sheister offer to GIVE BACK THE MONEY TO THE FOLKS WHO'VE BEEN OVERTAXED the past couple of years...? Of course not; they're too busy trying to come up with new ways to spend it.

It sure would be nice to actually find ourselves voting FOR a candidate one of these days...
