Baby Hack's latest display of class

This from Rial Cummings in today's
Missoulian:
U is for unsportsmanlike conduct. UM coach Bobby Hauck, nursing a 29-point lead with 49 seconds remaining, had the Griz run a fake punt. Call us old fashioned. Besides unnecessarily exposing kicker/punter Dan Carpenter to injury, the call was unworthy of the spirit of college athletics. We think part of being a gracious host is to avoid rubbing your opponent's nose in it.
We may be pissed off and not too happy with our coaching from yesterday, but at least we don't have a jackass like Hack representing our university!

Rial is a dick. SDSU called a time out, it is their fault for not letting time run down. After the TO they lined up to block the punt. SDSU wanted to keep playing, so the Griz obliged.
BTW, following the fake, the Griz took a knee. No running up the score, the Griz ran and extra play because SDSU called a TO, what difference does it make if it was a fake punt or a punt?

Come on Jah, get real. You're an educated guy, and I know you know better. Stupid for SDSU to call the timeout, I personally hate it when teams do that, but you still don't need to rub it in by running a fake punt.
BTW, I'll trade you Jeff Welsch for Rial Cummings, straight up.

ha ha. I might be "spinning" a bit. It wasn't the right thing to do to go for it for a number of reason, I agree

. But It was stupid for SDSU to call the TO. They wash. I don't know what was in Bobby's mind, if it had been against the cat I would know, but who knows what he was really thinking against SDSU. Not a terrible call, but not exactly brilliant either.
I personally am not one who really believes it is wrong to run up the score, as long as the intent is to improve the team and play your game, so my perspective is a bit skewed from many people.

They didnt run up the score, maybe we are going to need that fake kick down the road in the playoffs. The score would of been the same if he didnt fake it. I find it a complete joke to that is "unsportmanslike." He wanted to go home so he did what he had to to END the game, just leave it at that.
SDSU sucks anyways so who cares?

IA beat us worse than we beat SDSU. Nobody in Griz land said IA "run it up" on us.
Sorry, not buying it.

A: who cares....i mean really?
B: i doubt seriously if you'd get a straight response from the griz faithful (or bandwagon - i.e. swilly) fans on this . . . but i'm certain if Iowa would have done something like that, there would be a different response.
C: who cares......... move on.

SDSU had a 2 PF - roughing calls 1 on an FG and 1 on a punt. They called a timeout and came with a full block on the punt. If they were to run into Carpenter akwardly for the 3rd time and hurt him it would've been a huge loss for the Griz. Of course as it turned out tossing the ball back to him seemed odd to me.
After the play the Griz took a knee, despite being in the SDSU redzone.
SDSU wanted to keep playing, so Bobby kept playing, its that simple.
Oregon tried to score a TD on the Griz in the last 30 seconds of the game by doing nothing but deep passes for the last minute. Iowa ran a TD in when up big with 1:00 left.
Its football, its the way it goes. We didn't try to score on the next play, it's not classless or unsportsmanlike, its playing smart.

Personally, I didn't think it was a real classy move. I would have preferred if the Griz had just punted the football. But the Rabbit TO was classless as well.

Am I the only one who thinks that these players are big boys & can handle whatever comes their way. I am all for ANY coach letting his players play & try to score all the way until the final gun.

So, jah, what you're basically saying is that the SDSU coach was a jackass for calling the timeout; that may be but Bobby proved himself to be the BIGGER jackass by responding as he did.
His choices were to A) be the bigger man and simply punt it away, or B) go the childish, "I'll show you" route and sink to the other guy's level.
Bobby chose B which just goes to show he's STILL got a long way to go...

Tonight on his show Bobby said something along the lines of, "Some knuclehead (he's referring to Rial Cummings with the Missoulian) says its unsportsmanlike to run that fake punt, but I didn't like how they roughed my kicker twice and then called a timeout to try to block that punt. It told me they wanted to play a little more so thats what I did for them. It would be unsportsmanlike if we then took 4 shots to the endzone, which we didn't, we took a knee. Iowa scored on us in a situation like that last week and that didn't bother me, it was on us to stop them."
I think he stated it loud and clear and he made a good point.

You see...when you were born in 1995 the griz won the chipper. From there you decided that was your team because they were good. Thats how a bandwagon works. Pay up.

Did you see that run. He looked like a running back and his pass was perfect also.
Plus He was wearing pads just like all the players who are exposed to injury every play.

The SDSU coach brought it on. That is obvious. BH had the team take a knee. It isn't that big of a deal. You guys are hunting for stuff on BH. Like many said, who cares. It wasn't that out of line, especially given all the circumstances. I love the "knucklehead" comment by BH too. Ha ha, love it.

I think Hauck should have gone for it on 4th, had Stapp throw an intentional pick, and told his offense to let SDSU take it to the house, just so they'd feel better about themselves. Seriously, would that have made you guys happy?
Look guys, I don't always like Hauck's trickery either, but I do understand why he made this call, and I don't think SDSU has any right to be upset about it. If you're going to bring the house to try to block a punt when you're down by 29 with no time left, you can't expect the other team to call off the dogs, either.
Also, a few people have mentioned unnecessarily exposing Carpenter to injury. Two things about that: 1. with SDSU coming for the block, he was exposed whether they ran the fake or not, and 2. by kicking, they would have given SDSU the chance to run their two-minute offense, thus unnecessarily exposing their entire
defense to injury.
All in all, I think it was the smart call, and I have no qualms about it.

That's bad explaining. When I was born in 1967 there was no wagon to jump on.
