It will be fun flying to Chattanooga to watch the Griz win the NC game again this year.

But don't worry, cat fans, at the rate your program is progressing, I could see you in the playoffs ...oooh, roughly the next time you get Travis Lulay to be your quarterback.

Since you're so confident that the Cats are incapable of having a very successful season, I want you to provide some reasoning. While you're at it, I want you or ANY griz fan for that matter to try and rationalize how Chattanooga is such a great possibility for the griz. Granted, the griz have brought in some I-A players who have shown potential but how can you rationalize how Swogger, Chambers, or Bradshaw might represent the missing links that will ensure a NC? Lex didn't seem to get up for the bigger games last year. The defense will be better but can you honestly say that it's a whole lot better than what the Cats will have? I think not and although I'm biased, I don't think the griz defense will be better than MSU's.

Sure, you'll likely also say the Cats don't have a proven QB. The same can be said for Swogger. He hasn't taken one snap for the griz against any non-scrimmage opponents yet. His accolades he accrued while in high school didn't equate to his performance on the field while at WSU. Sure he's got a cannon of an arm but he's a very injury prone QB with little mobility.

I'm just curious where this unjustified hubris comes from especially in light of the fact that the team the griz fielded last year isn't one that this year's team can ride the coattails of successwise.

Well, first off, no one ever accused Ochs of being immobile. Second, I am glad he never suffered another concussion while he was in college - he took some pretty hard shots, but luckily he came away from them okay. Third, I think you will remember that Ochs was average at best during his first year at UM - he didn't come into his own until midway into his second year. He said it was a hard system to learn - and that is coming from Ochs, who is a smart, balanced young man. Fourth, Ochs was already a proven player in the Big XII, not some scrub who couldn't make it at a bottom-dwelling Pac 10 team.

I think Swogger sounds pretty good, but he is certainly not one bit more "proven" than either Carpenter or Rolovich. I think all three have some pretty good talent, but there are a lot of things you never see in a QB until you get him on the field during the pressure of a game. Don't forget, Swogger only has one year to play at UM, whereas Ochs had two years. There is certainly reason to be optimistic for griz fans, but I don't think I would be booking my Chatty plane tickets just yet. Personally, I think the griz offense will put up more points this year, but they will also turn the ball over more and will not be able to control the line of scrimmage consistently because their O-line has some pretty big questions. On top of that, their D-line will be prone to a good running attack, because they have no depth at tackle, and their ends are more suited to rushing the QB than stopping the run.

... of course, arguing objectively with Crap-for-Brains is pretty much pointless...

I want you or ANY griz fan for that matter to try and rationalize how Chattanooga is such a great possibility for the griz.
Because Montana has national title caliber players. Nearly everyone returns on a defense that gave up the fewest points in the BSC last year, and the offense should be dramatically improved.

But to answer your question, I'll let the experts do my talking for me. I will bet that when the polls come out, the Griz will be in the top 5 in the country. And I'll also bet that many of the top I-AA experts (Otto Fad, Matt Dougherty, David Coulson, Eric Germunder, Kent Schmidt) will likely all predict Montana will compete for the NC. That's good enough for me.

And when the Experts hear someone who brings up the "Bobkittens"
they will naturally assume it's Texas State that's being talked about!
Leave it to a simpleton like you to totally F up a thread that was relatively constructive in its exchange.

Kind of like what the griz are riding right now huh?

You do realize that the last NC won by the griz was already 5+ years ago. That streak will continue as well despite the maroon colored glasses many of you wear and who think that Chattanooga is a definite.
