In all seriousness, that was a sweet win for the hoops squad. They were lights out at the free throw line. It will be really interesting to see how Chavez does this year - he was perfect from the floor last night and was playing hard at both ends.


Question for those with extensive Montana HS basketball knowledge:

Someone on eGriz at one point made the claim that Chavez is arguably the best Montana HS player of all time. Any credibility to that?

Three state titles at two schools if I remember right. Heart Butte and Browning. He was a man-child in highschool. Hope he keeps his personal sh!t together for your sake.

I thought it was 4 state titles. 3 with Heart Butte and 1 with Browning. I'd say he was probably the best Class C player but I'd have a hard time agreeing with the best ever in any class.

Elvis Old Bull was better in my opinion.

I'd have been much more impressed with this win 15 years ago. LMU hasn't been anything great in a long time. Although this win is much better that a loss to a Div. II team.

True. However, after our second half meltdown against BSU I feared for the remainder of the road trip. I'll take 1-1 on the road to start the season.

What about that kid who went to high school in Highwood during the mid 90's then played for Rocky. His first name might have been Reece or something like that.

Highwood, then Belt, then Eastern, then Rocky (I think?).

Reece Gliko. Great shooter and scorer, but I don't think he was in the running for best of all time. Nobody that I ever effectively guarded (even if he was a Frosh when I was a Senior) should be in the running for best of all time.

He honestly wasn't a great athlete by any stretch, but he was/is a great shooter and ball handler.

If we want to go with a Class C guard to throw in the best of all time club, my vote would go to Jeremy Lake (who I also guarded, and looked very foolish as I did so). He was much more of a complete player than Gliko.

If you want another pure shooter to add to the list, Scott Henderson from Box Elder was as good as I've ever seen.

Glicko. Great shooter, didn't play defense, dumb as a stick. Couldn't decide if he wanted to be from Highwood or Belt, so transferred to Belt and Highwood won a State title.

2) Kral Ferch (Most Athletic)
3) Willy Weeks (Best all-around)

thanks for the trip down memory lane - saw Glicko play at the fieldhouse in college - his only miss was a half courter that was off the rim (at least that's how i'd like to remember it).

2.) Chavez

4.) The kid from Absorkee (87?) that played for Rocky. Walker, I think
5.) Lake

6.) Scott Razor from Noxon


Granted these are just ones I've seen. I couldn't say any further back than 86-87

I heard that Krysko was a very good high school player. My roommate in college played center for the Griz. I remember him coming home from some sort of practice/pickup game in the off season, where he played against Krysko when Krysko was a senior, talking about how good this high school kid was and how difficult he was to defend.

I'm surprised you Griz fans have been leaving out Darren Engellant from Geraldine. Gotta be top 3 class C of all time...
