Alright, I went a little overboard with the asterisk thing
. It just seems a little unfair to me that a town of bozeman's size has all of it's athletic talent concentrated into one school. I know that won't change anything, but I have a feeling they wouldn't win nearly as many championships if they had two high schools.

Hellgate beat West in the finals. That was three years ago that Butte took 2nd. Speaking of West....West destroyed Butte and I heard Edwards only played 10 minutes or so....Hell's Bells wrote:and what has happened since...Htowngriz wrote:BTW, Hellgate won basketball two years ago![]()
Butte took second that year and this year they are favored to win it all
just courious but i wonder if hellgate is going to make it to the playoffs even
And no Hellgate is terrible this year.

Then you better break up Kalispell too. They have nearly identical enrollment numbers (1842 (B) - 1831 (K))Htowngriz wrote:Alright, I went a little overboard with the asterisk thing. flathead is already in process of being split - see Glacier High School:
http://www.sd5.k12.mt.us/schls/ghs/index.htm
by the way, the actual high school at Flathead only contains grades 10-12 (freshman are at another building across town). it has always been a large school. it will be interesting to see what happens when Glacier comes on line next year . . . believe they are bringing in only juniors and below next year.
sorry to break up the smacking....continue.

the cross country teams do (got a son who ran this fall for Helena). i was blown away by the number of runners they have on their team. you can only run 7 in a varsity race, but as much as you want on j.v. i saw Bozeman enter almost 30 in a j.v. race and they took the top 25 places. impressive team / coach.but they nevr win anything besides cross country so no one cares.
sorry for the sidetrack - just needed to post something other then smack/drugs/coaching.

H-Town:
How manby football state titles has Hellgate High won in their history?
Answer 0 The only high school in the AA ranks in Montana who has never won an AA State football title. That is since their inception in 1966.
A Hellgate Alum
PS: They have won 4-5 basketball titles though, mainly under former Griz star Eric Hays.
