YEEEE HAAAA, celebrate your 'fake' victory of a man in a fur suitGavinDonos wrote:Is there something honorable about stuffing the ballot box in a mascot contest? Whoa, now there HAS to be a conspiracy theory there!

Remember Gavin, this is the UMMMMMM so I'm sure that cheating didn't phase them a bit

Wow are you a whiner. Monte didn't win the ballot stuffing contest, it was upto a panel of judges who ACTUALLY PAID ATTENTION to the stuff he's done over the last year.GavinDonos wrote:Is there something honorable about stuffing the ballot box in a mascot contest? Much better than Co-Champ just standing and clapping while the MSU basketball team came out. How bland -- No wonder The Catbox struggles in attendance every year.

Nick, pay attention to the context before you start the name calling. You just called someone a whiner for replying to someone boasting about winning a "national championship" in mascoting in an effort to talk smack. Yes, Monte won a contest run by the marketing department of a credit card company as part of an advertising campaign. And yes, internet voting was a large part of it, and yes, there was an organized effort put forth by egrizzers to skirt the rules and vote more than once. You know that as well as we do. To point that out in the face of misplaced arrogance is not whiny -- it's a much-needed dose of reality.Nick wrote:Wow are you a whiner. It is always sad to see a large self-esteem deficit in some people filled with vicarious pride over one's favorite sports teams. But to do the same thing over a friggin' mascot? That's pushing the envelope a bit too far. We all need to go out and do one thing today that we can be proud of on our own merits -- it's condition critical.
On egriz there is now a thread with many people putting down other "national mascot championships" as being inferior to the credit card marketing department contest. Amazing....

How else do you explain people who spend an inordinate amount of time putting other people down based on the success/failure of their favorite sports team? Do you have a better theory? I think fans like that are sad people, and I'm not really going out on a limb on that one. That's the main reason why I hardly ever go to NFL games anymore -- there are just too many freaks looking to scream at opposing fans based on what colors they are wearing.jagur1 wrote:BAC that was weak. Only a person with a, "large self-esteem deficit" would bother being so condesending.
Give me a better theory for that behavior, and I will begin to consider the weakness of mine.
