Let's just all become non-conforming conformists ok? That would make us all the same too right?
The only companies I don't like are the ones that get so big they can actually control the market. Such as Walmart, and Starbucks. Other than that I don't care, I'll buy whatever as long as it is a good product/service. :)

Speaking of Nalgene, that is one of my biggest pet peeves is when people call every water battle they see a Nalgene. It is a brand! Same goes with when people say Kleenex or Q-Tip. Brands people, brands! And don't even get me started on Southerners and their Coke affliction. :)

I had the same thought. Things like that, Kleenex, and RollerBlades are all successful branding stories. I have no problem with it.

Who the hell is one person to label another person by the coat they're wearing or vehicle that they're driving? Give me a break.

If a "yuppy" is a person wearing brand name clothing, what do you call people who wear the same clothing, but duct tape over the logo because they're too afraid of what people think about them?

Why would anyone be bothered at all by other people's possessions unless they're jealous??
i agree. after reading more of these posts, this thread is garbage. i didn't know what a yuppy was, but apparently it's me. i work my ass of for my family and myself to have nice things. some are brand name things because i believe in quality. this thread is just a little too stereotypical for me. all i learned is that if you wear expensive clothes, drive a durango, like to ski, and go to other bars in town besides the crystal, scoop and molly, you are a "yuppy." sorry, but this is lame and offensive.
I don't know many people who would consider a Durango a yuppiemobile
isnt it an suv? man...i am lost in this thread!
honestly the only people i know that drive a Durango would get very upset if you called them a yuppe.

Durango = Expensive redneck mobile

I definately don't call them cotton swabs. I'm guilty of calling them Q-Tips, but I actually buy Q-Tips so that is okay. :) If you had a different brand and you called them Q-Tips, well that is probably a one way street to hell.

ChapStick is also a brand. I've always found it interesting to see which companies have such a monopoly on their respective market that it is synonomous with the product they sell.

Band-Aid
Saran Wrap

I think if Ron Burgandy read this thread he would sum it up simply; "That's just dumb."

Good call...who the hell cares. I have to fix something with scotch tape and hydrate my lips with chapstick. Good day!

Okay, I for one, am not a hippie or a yuppie, but I find carrying around a Nalgene bottle a GOOD THING!

**The average adult is suppose to be consuming at least 100 ounces of water PER day. That equals approx. 3 Nalgene bottles full of water (if it is a 32 ounce bottle). I make a consious effort to consume this much water on a daily basis. ATHLETES ARE SUPPOSE TO DO THIS!

Also, I wear a North Face coat... it was a present from the family. But it definitely doesn't mean I am a yuppie. I haven't gone skiing in nearly 10 years and I'm from Bozeman!

I will admit, I have had Starbucks... ONCE in my life. A friend of mine suggested we meet there, and since they ordered a drink, I felt like I should too.

I like Montana the way it is... and whenever I leave and come back, I appreciate it that much more!! Let's leave it the way it is

this is funny. you know I can't say for sure if Bozeman is now yuppie central, but after reading Hello Kitty's list, I can tell you hands down the University of WA is. Drive by campus on our treks to Children's, and busted up after reading her list. By the way we must be treated by yuppie docs, or we're simply a bunch of yuppie families being treated there. over 80% have nice suv's, many with year round racks, dress is preppy, sorry haven't found one doc with a tie yet, but have that Tommy Hilfiger sweater thing down pat, and there's a starbuck's inside children's for all of us addicted parents. :D so may be I've just found a yuppie spawning ground or something, but driving around Seattle you really miss Montana.

give anything to see some wranglers around here :D Oh, and manners would do some good as well. gone are the days men ran ahead and opened doors for women and children, still happens back at MSU, or at least it did. must be a cowboy thing.

Dunno about it being a cowboy thing, but it sure is (for the most part) a Montana thing. Especially in the smaller towns. Sometimes when I go back home, I think "wow, this place is podunk", but at least the people are still friendly and courteous. :)

 Giving ya thumbs up as I drive my Ford Excursion down the dirt road heading into the mountains with Nalgene bottles, carabiners, North Face Tent(s), wearing "gore tex", with heavy layers of lip balm on, coppertoned, wearing Eddie Bauer cheap cologne, sipping on a luke warm triple machiato with carmel creme flavor topped with colored sprinkles Starbuck coffee in a Rocky Mountain Roasting Comp Cup, listening to the Cats Kick Griz ... heading for the Rainbow Convention...

What am I?

P.S. I forgot, I have a q tip stuck in my right ear.

so what are we once the "yuppie" life is replaced by the minivan full of kids, dogs and groceries ? gone are the days of the nice SUV, carefree 4-wheeling, steaming hot cups of Joe in your hands. guess I can be a muppie (mom that was former yuppie) :D

actually never yuppie (not a lab owner & don't like north face) - definite muffy though.
