Wolfman wrote:"borderline racist", is that like "somewhat pregnant"?
Not to nitpick, but actually no, it isn't. Unlike pregnancy, racism is something that can actually be a question of degree (i.e., it is possible to be racist in some ways but not in others, and it is possible for one person to be "more racist" than another). Thus, the phrase "somewhat pregnant" really isn't analogous.

Hope that was helpful. :)

I work as an attorney so that I can afford good scotch, which helps me to forget that I work as an attorney.

Hardly....borderline racist is racist itself. There might be differing degrees of it yes, but it's still racist no matter how you choose to break it down.

Well, I was being a smartass, and not really expecting any serious responses to this.

However, since you brought it up -- you actually proved the point I was trying to make (that "partially pregnant" and "borderline racist" are not analogous) in your own post. After all, there are not "differeing degrees" of pregnancy, are there?

For someone who is so quick to describe or explain things from a nearly exclusive legal standpoint (note: legalese), taking you as a smartass or someone showing sarcasm isn't easy. My apologies for that oversight on my part.

If you're thinking that someone needs to lighten up, you might want to choose a different chemical instead of the layman's word du jour known as Prozac.

Differing degrees of pregnancy? Good question but I'd still say no. There are different stages (trimesters) of pregnancy, but to me you're either pregnant or you're not.

Point well taken; I'm going to do that in a few minutes. I'm sorry; it's been a long day at work (which is why I'm still posting at 10 pm my time). That's also why I edited my last post; it came out sounding more obnoxious than I intended.

That was my point from the beginning. There are not differing degrees of pregnancy, and there are differing degrees of racism. That is why when Wolfman asked if they were the same thing, I said no. Like I said, I was just being a smart ass.

Anyway -- I'll talk to you all tomorrow. I'm going to follow sig's and Hells' advice, and go have a beer.

Like I said, that flew over my head (the sarcasm). Maybe it's the vodka that I've had a few of tonight. I thnk I can relate to a similar, stressful day of work.

Have a few more beers for me.
